Living for the King! "For Pastor Vernon there is no other way to live." Known as PastorV, he is a youth pastor in the Kansas City metro area. He served as youth pastor at Living Stone Family Worship Center for two years. He left that position due to God's calling to start a youth outreach/discipleship ministry called, "Making It Plain Ministries". "The goal is to make sure our young people CLEARLY undertand the word of God", stated PastorV. "It is easy to stand up in front of a group of young people and talk, talk, talk but if it isn't sinking in or they have no clue what we are talking about it's just words." Known for his dynamic, illustrated sermons, PastorV has being blessed with the opportunity to speak to youth all across the country. "I started doing illustrated sermons after seeing Pastor Joe White speak a while back and saw how in tune myself and others around me were and knew that was the way to go", said PastorV. I figured some of my strengths from my teaching days were using visual aids and acting things out to get my point across so I knew immediately after watching Pastor Joe speak I could use my strengths to effectively teach the word of God." PastorV's main goal is to ensure youth are being equipped with the tools necessary to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. "Young people are buying into so many things today so it is important for them to buy into the fact that God loves them today exactly the way they are and they don't need to have a certian kind of shoe, gear, car, hairstyle to be accepted by him", PastorV stated. PastorV added, "Even with that being said, I am excited about the hunger young people are starting to show for knowing the Lord and as long as they show the hunger, our team is going to feed them".
