About Me

Glenn Sears hails from the northeast Oklahoma and started playing live venues at the young age of 13. His early years began by playing with and influenced by older area musicians, with strong blues and R&B roots, his strongest early influence being Sateve Gaines (of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame). Glenn moved to Macon , Ga. in 1974 to play with the band Sow Belly , which evolved into the first Ace Morelsnd band. Included in this band was drummer, Alfred Thomas who alslo was playing with James Brown at the time, Barry Rapp (of Henry Paul fame) on keyboards, and Ace Moreland on vocals and Guitar. During this time Glenn also played with or jammed on stage with, the Wet Willy Band, Elvin Bishaop, Charlie Daniels, the Almond Brothers, John Lee Hooker, Grinder Switch, Johnny and Edgar Winters, Freddy King, and Bobby Whitlock when he first signed with Capricorn Records. Glenn also began hanging out at Capricorn Studios and was fortunate enough to do some recording with various artists. During this time period, Glenn also recorded at Fame Studios in Mucleshoals, Alabama and Criteria Studios, in Miami Florida. At the end of 1976 Glenn returned to Oklahoma, where he played with various artist, studied jazz theory in college, and was fotunate to take guitar lessons from country swing legend Eldon Shamblin (of Bob Wills fame) In the me 80's Glenn returned to his blues and R&b roots and began fine tuning his song writing skills. Around 1992 Glenn went to Florida to play with old friend, Slugger Trask, when Slugger left Dr. Hector to start his solo career. Glenn began hanging out and playing with various King Snake Record artist's. During this time Glenn did some session work at Kingsnake and other Florida studios. In 1994 Glenn returned to Oklahoma and played locally until going to Nashville ,Tenn. With Slugger Trask in late 1995. While in Nashville, Glenn and Slugger worked on a Rockin Soul project that involved Joe Scathe and Jim Cotton at the Music Mill. Slugger and Glenn also recorded in Memphis during this time period. Because of a serious family illness Glenn and Slugger returned to Oklahoma with the project unfinished. Glenn took a break from playing music , and began working as a counselor. Glenn is curently playing again on weekends with Polly Ess who won the best blues vocalist in Tulsa award ealier this year. also included in this the Polly Ess band is bassist Leon Rollerson, (of early Gap Band fame) drummer Chuck Browning ( who played with Leon Russell, J.J. Kale, Eric Clapton, and other Tulsa area musicians), pianist Annie Walser (Annie Pianie), who has played with Tulsa blues legends such as Flash Terry, and Guitarist Billy McNielis .
