The Carnival Ghosts

2006-2007

About Me

The Carnival Ghosts were born a few months ago in the late heady year of '06. Times were hard but the music and beauty kept them pure. They have already been tipped by the N.M.E. & recorded with The Strokes and Regina Spektor producer Gordon Raphael. They played on their first tour in February bringing their music and songs to people... like the wandering minstrels they are. 'The New Aesthetic' is their kind of ten commandments as such, only not religious and with a slightly more skewed world view. They are beautiful, young, talented. Ladies and Gentlemen I give to you for one life only, The Carnival Ghosts.....................

Band Members: The New AestheticThe Carnival Aesthetic is mainly for people to appreciate beauty in everyday life. 1.Shopping can be beautiful. Clean lines and hygiene. Back to the future taught everyone it's important not to be your mum and that if you fight now then your future will be better. 2.This is a call to arms for artists. If there is something you really love and you believe that your art is right then see it through. It's better to die in poverty than to be an accountant. 3. Lily Allens' blogs are fabulous. Very vacuous and post-modern. Actually taking the p*ss out of celebrity culture when she must know it's fake anyway. It's a bit like attacking air. There's nothing really you can do about it. Except wack the cccs out from your fridges and your cans of aerosol. 4. Pop art is a true way of life. The days of empire have gone and faded. We are a lost generation and trying to find a new culture we can be proud of. We're lost because we can't be proud of our past. However we still have popular culture. The Beatles and Joy Division and Pulp. Pop art is a true way of life. 5. Create something or destroy something. All life is either creation or destruction. Without exception. Life is opposites. It's really about either like or dislike. The middle ground should be raized. Some buildings built in the 1960s are the ugliest things in the world to some people yet to others they are works of post-modern genius. Literally a beautiful robotic future. I say embrace this. It couldn't be more important. 6. Going back to the point of Pop art and destroyed empire. We are at a cultural year zero. Forget literally everything that has gone before and create something brand new. Forget everything and creat something. Your culture is now. Do something new say something important. In the modern world the internet is the only true election. This is meritocracy at last. 7. Start a band call it something and play as little or as much as you like. Dress exactly how you want. But dress for positive reasons not negative ones. Don't be anti-fashion for example. Wear the clothes that you want to make an expression in or at least make you feel comfotable. Evryone dresses for image. Even those who say " I never dress for fashion or trends or image" This is their own conscious decision so it is their own trend and still their own reasons for dressing the way they do. Dress for positive reasons. 8. Start a magazine/or fanzine/start your own scene. I mean it's good to really get to the root of who you are and your expression of the world you live in. This has got to happen. Even if one person reads this and loves it and it changes their life that's better than it being read by a million people and it having no effect. This applies for everything. It's more important to be yourself completely and express yourself in the way that you best can and love than to want a massive audience to say "aren't you clever haven't you done well" this really goes for a lot of bands. Say what you want to say without fear of repercussions. Free speech is what this bullet point is about. 9. Insert your own maxim here feel free to write it below. 10. This is a new Carnival Revolution. If you create a scene off the back of this then you are missing the point. Write, perform, do anything, express yourself freely and life will be full and worthy and complete. But don't forget to leave anything out. End of brodacst. This is the new aesthetic
