This is a fan site for John Christianson, the trumpet player from Reel Big Fish. THIS IS NOT ACTUALLY HIM.
He's A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
Not only is he an excellent trumpet player, he's a blast to talk to and watch perform. Fans love the kick-ass energy and floppy hair. This is a place to gather together and worship the glory that is The Christmas. If you've met him, tell us about it!
COPIED FROM THE REEL BIG FISH WEBSITE:
John is the trumpet dynamo who wows audiences all over the world with his amazing trumpet talents. Christened “Johnny Christmas†by the other members of Reel Big Fish (possibly because it’s easier to say than Christianson), John is a welcome addition to the Reel Big Fish family. John was born and raised in beautiful Orange County California, (No, not that rich and snotty part that you see on “The OC,†but in the normal part where the kids don’t drive Ferrari’s to school) where he picked up the trumpet at age 10. Since then, his life has never been the same. “I saw Dizzy Gillespie on Sesame Street and I thought he was so cool. I want to do that!†So from then on John practiced and practiced, and practiced, and practiced, wait did I mention about him practicing? I think that he might be still practicing at this very moment. John studied music throughout high school and on into college, taking trumpet lessons with Bobby Shew, Wayne Bergeron, Paul Cacia, Uan Rasy and Bill Bing, to name a few. John was introduced to Ska through his friends that were in a band called Jeffries Fan Club. “On the weekends I would go watch their local shows. I never would have thought that this connection would lead me to playing with Reel Big Fish.†John got a knock on his door one weekend by his friend Derek Gibbs asking him to play with this new band called The Forces Of Evil. “We rehearsed that day and at the end of the rehearsal we took a picture for the OC weekly. They never even asked me if I wanted to be in the band, I was just, immediately sucked in.†While John played with FOE he also kept playing a steady stream gigs outside the Ska realm. John has played with such artists as The Supremes, Louie Belson, Jack Sheldon, Tom Kubis, Paul Cacia, Gold Finger, and Zebrahead - Just to name a few. John got the call to play with Reel Big Fish in the summer of 2004. “ I feel very fortunate to be a part of Reel Big Fish. The guys have made me feel like a part of the family. The band is extremely talented, the shows are a blast, not to mention that Reel Big Fish has the greatest Fans in the world.â€
