Always with an eye for staying ahead of the trends, Hadshot Haheizar unloads its 74th vinyl release to give a glimpse into the hot sounds for evolving for tomorrow's dancefloors.
Showcasing the talents of the upcoming project Jab, this release provides a fresh sound will surely serve as an inspiration to enliven floors for many months to come. Despite having relatively few releases under his belt as Jab, the man behind the project, Nir Shoshani, has no lack of experience as both a skillful studio technician and accomplished DJ.
Starting his musical career as a vocalist for a pair of metal bands in Israel, Nir discovered the world of electronic music in 1992 and quickly progressed to master his skills both behind the decks and in the studio. In the last 10 years, he has been a leading force in a number of projects, being responsible for 5 full-length album releases, a handful of 12" vinyl pressings and countless appearances on compilations and mixed CDs.
His success and subsequent travels have exposed him to a variety of sounds and musical experiences throughout the world, giving Nir a solid ground for sonic experimentation.
This latest project of his, Jab, represents the assimilation of his diverse background and musical influences applied to the aural palette of minimal and electro-based sounds. Never one to simply imitate trends, Nir creates a truly unique amalgamation of sounds that goes beyond simple genre definition, yet still packs more than ample punch to be a necessary tool in any DJ's record case. A1"Drunkenstein" displays the more tough-edged electro-tinged sound of Jab, forming a bassline-driven heavy beast for the peak-time of the night.
Climactic distorted stringy synths and well-placed stabs give the upper end of the track a subtle funk while a thick bassline pushes heavily beneath the groove. A song that contains surprises until the end, "Drunkenstein" will create pure mayhem on the floor to leave everybody breathless. B1"Lala" forges ahead into the realm of futuristic minimal techno while retaining a thickly melancholic and melodic atmosphere that injects a sense of emotion into the headspace of the listener.
While implanting a host of unexpected twists and turns into the tune, Jab manages to form a single cohesive piece that never lets go of the attention until the last beat has kicked. While the root of the track is found in a minimalistic sensibility, its execution and progression defy any clear categorization, making it a flexible tool for a multitude of situations.
