Music:
"I passed a cow and the cow was brown. My pyjamas clung to me like a shroud! Like a shroud!" It's hard to sort through the music I really like now from what I used to like when I was younger-- that music just helps me reminisce, hold on to memory and history, relive days of careless youth, of displaced anger and vibrant confusion when everything held too much meaning, like being really stoned and connecting with every atom and cell that makes up the universe. Do I still like those songs? Or do I like them like I like laughing at the outfit I wore in that picture of me at the carnival at Webb Field when I was 7 with the chunky yarn bow in my hair? Here is some music that I have played on my I-River and my work computer in the past month or so, in no particular order, as far as memory serves: Nitzer Ebb, Fiona Apple, Rick Moranis (yes, the Agoraphobic Cowboy), Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, Hackensaw Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Moloko, Milligram, The Kinks, Mark Lannegan, DJ Andy Smith, Kid Koala, Lair of the Minotaur, Stew, Ladytron, The Cure, Andrew Bird, Nine Horses, Bolt Thrower, Einsturzende Neubauten, Billie Holiday, David Byrne, Amadou and Miriam, and some world music comps... you might say all over the map as of late.
