About Me

Smart, dedicated, proactive, sarcastic, principled, altruistic, verbose, profane, professional, workaholic, irreverant, eclectic, slightly neurotic (but not to the degree that I could sit through a lunch with Woody Allen), outspoken, snarky, generous, control freak. (Not really that bad - so long as nothing deviates from the grand plan I have in my mind and everyone does exactly what I expect them to do. It's really quite simple, ha-ha.)

My Interests

Air America Radio, film, writing, politics, music, the arts, my job, travel. Work in progress, I suppose. If I could put all of my interests here, that wouldn't leave much for later....if you really want to find out more about me, buy me a Knob Creek on the rocks.

I'd like to meet:

People who don't totally suck as human beings.People who do totally suck....well.People with a clue and a sense of outrage at the current state of affairs in this country...and for that matter, the state of affairs around the world.People who are up on current events other than what a disappointment Britney's VMA performance was.People with passion, intellect, direction, talent and grace. Barring that, people with expense accounts and excessive spending habits. Ha-ha.Cool people with good values, a set of principles and the courage to make them known.

Music:

Eclectic. Nine Inch Nails, Aretha, Depeche Mode, Timberlake (he's bringing SEXYBACK), Van Halen, Dixie Chicks, Def Leppard, Queen, Tina Turner, Motown, Britney back in the day, John Mellencamp, Kelly Clarkson, Alanis, Madonna, Guns-N-Roses, Debbie Gibson, Go-Go's, Kravitz, Aerosmith, Anastacia, Nelly Furtado, 80's pop, blah blah blah. People who scroll through my iPod simply assume I have multiple personalities. They're right, I do. And they all RULE.

Movies:

The Color Purple, Thelma & Louise, Silence of the Lambs, Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion, Star Wars Saga, ALIENS, The Abyss, Heathers, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Showgirls, The Matrix, The House of Yes, Waiting For Guffman, Seven, All About Eve, Grease, Mad Max, Jaws, Die Hard, 9 to 5, Tootsie, Arthur, LOTR Trilogy, Starship Troopers, Mean Girls, The Sweetest Thing...and on and on. Sadly, I own all of these and STILL don't do NETFLIX. I need to get with the program.

Television:

Buffy (then, now, always), Strangers With Candy, Sex And The City, Family Guy, The Closer, ALIAS, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Gilmore Girls, The Practice, Ugly Betty, Boston Legal, Friends, The Bob Newhart Show, The Carol Burnett Show, 24, Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, The West Wing, 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, The Wendy Williams Experience, What Not To Wear, Take Home Chef, Trading Spaces, Property Ladder (I need a TLC intervention), 80's sitcoms, Designing Women, Double Trouble, Fame...oh so many more....

Books:

A Separate Peace, The Catcher in the Rye, Lightning, Misadventures in the (213), Celestine Prophecy, The Harry Potter saga (I was quite satisfied with the way it wrapped up - sue me), Laurie Notaro, Harold & Maude, Webster's Dictionary, Wicked, Screening Party, Surrender The Pink, Exile In Guyville...or anything that can hold my attention and inform or entertain me...

Heroes:

Mark Heller, first and foremost. Before God. Before Oprah. Mark is my hero because he is spontaneoous. My idea of an impulse buy is a new tin of Altoids. Mark's is a new Audi A6.Randi Rhodes for fighting the good fight and spreading knowledge.Stephanie Miller for being smart, sexy and an ex-Republican who saw the light.Stephen Colbert for his brilliant White House Press Correspondents' Dinner performanceOprah for being able to buy and sell us all with a phone call.Dave G. - My Number 1 Jew! So funny, so talented, so grounded...a source of inspiration and information...and one of the finest human beings I know. I adore Dave G. and you should too...unless you're a total dumbass.Sidney Tokyo Belgium for being quality people and for the sheer scope of his skills...LEGEND....ARY! (Especially now that I have a much clearer grasp of the breadth and depth of his knowledge base. Though I wish that weren't the case.)John Butler for his quick wit, his lack of listening skills and for his ability to tell the same story over and over again while making it new to him each time, if not to us.....and for being so disciplined in his lifelong goal to become a firefighter....a true hero.....or is it whore? I've never seen a true blue Boy Scout do-gooder so damned tall and charming in my life.Steven Lauridsen - Girl At Law for being so smart and so much fun with such a good heart - no matter what he would have you think...I swear, he is not dead inside.Margaret Morford for being my HR Guru and for having the heart of a lion and helping me learn and grow.Corinna, my newest HR Diva for hunting me down and for fighting to get me on board. Let's f*#k up some HR traditions!!BC1 - For being so freaking positive, for lifting us all up and for making the world a better place and imapcting people's lives every single day. I want to be you when I grow up. I also want to punch you in the neck sometimes. But in a good way. You have not experienced a good day until you have your day start with a hug from Mr. Carney. It is officially, physiologically impossible to not smile when you see him. He looks like he slept with a coat hanger in his mouth and that smile rarely leaves his face. Would that I could be like that. But I am trying. Thanks for being my spritual twin. How did I get through 35 years without you?!?and saving the best for last...The Brain By The Beach...my own personal Obi-Wan Kenobi...he knows who he is and why he's on the list....I quite literally would not be who I am today were it not for him...I am forever indebted to you for your teachings and I have been lucky enough to pass them on to help others. You are a singular force of light and goodness. (Well, when you actually return phone calls.) The perfect compliment to my own special brand of evil. =)
