I have the second most eccelectic interests of anybody I know - pretty much everything except pop and hardcore. Anyone who hasn't ever heard of Manu Chao should check him out, he's hands down my fave, but I get on these kicks periodically and will listen to nothing but, say, samba or Al Green for days on end. What else . . . . . Johnny Cash, Mike Ness, RJD2, Dr. Octagon, Postal Service, R.L. Burnside, I once saw this Japanese noise punk band called Polysics, they were good too, I'm pretty open to whatever.
Movies without happy endings, I really like anything by Neil Labute (In the Company of Men) and Todd Solondz (Happiness). Jim Jarmusch is good too but inconsistent - Down by Law was godawful (even though it was set in my hometown) but Dead Man was my faovrite movie of all time. The Man Without a Past was cool too.
Jerry Springer, the Dr. Laura Show (I think they canceled it). I like talk radio more than I like TV.
Waiting for the Barbarians, Desire Street (shameless plug for my dad), The Many Aspects of Mobile Home Living, The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea, American Tragedy (gotta love the American realists!), uhm, Day of the Locust, The Corrections (too bad Jonathan Franzen's such an asshole) still thinking . . .
Robert Moses, Pat Robertson, Hank Williams
