About Me

KSLG has a photo album again! ((Thanks Kim!!))
Click on the picture below and browse around. You can even use the search box to find a specific band or venue.
BTW- if you're inclined to send in pictures that you took at local shows, please do! I'll give you photo credit. E-mail show pictures to [email protected] .

Who am I? I answer to "Hey, aren't you that girl on K-Slug?". I'm the Slug Festivities Guide girl and now I have my own weekend show (Saturday/Sunday 10am-3pm on 94.1 KSLG-FM!)! I'm also a lot more than that, but if you wanna know, just ask. I have very few secrets (and my blogs are where you can find the best dirt on the drama that is my life).
Check out my radio stations: KSLG , KHUM , and KWPT "The Point."
If you're in a local band that wants your shows on the Slug Festivities Guide, e-mail me the info... MySpace messages tend to get buried in my Inbox.
If you're a touring band that's coming through Humboldt, hit me up... if you send me a CD, I'll try to play it on my show. It's what I do.
Other interests:
*My 1980 Vespa P200E. She's kitted to 213 c.c.s... yes I can take her on the highway.
*My bass (I would love to start a band... ya know, in all of my free time!).
*"My" bands... see my Top friends. I love these bands as musical entities and as human beings. I'm very maternal about them... the Scene Mom, I suppose.
*Being a full-time Journalism student at HSU. Yes, I also work full-time. And yes, I am a little bit nuts.
*Being a media whore *ahem* media professional. I like attention... I can't help it. Everyone's gotta be good at something.
*Music is my life.
Oh, and my AIM is KSLG Monica. I'm generally on there when I'm at work.

My Interests

Music- modern rock, swing, old-timey/bluegrass, and especially local versions of any of these. Support your scene!!

Also, scooters... my 1980 Vespa P200E and the Slugrockets Scooter Club! :-)

I'd like to meet:

Green Day, Jamie Cullum (DONE!! 10/22/06), Joe Strummer (R.I.P.)

Music:

Green Day, Sublime, The Clash, Weezer, NOFX, Violent Femmes, The Pogues, The Decemberists, Rage Against the Machine, "my" Canadian punk bands (Belvedere, Downway, Choke, Wisecrack, Side Sixty-Seven) and local bands: Strix Vega, The Delta Nationals, The Rubberneckers, The Smashed Glass, The Buffy Swayze, Que La Chinga, Dragged By Horses, The Monster Women, The Ian Fays, The Invasions...

Movies:

Trainspotting, Swing Kids, Quadrophenia, Garden State... movies with awesome soundtracks

Television:

I try to avoid TV, but Law and Order, CSI, Cold Case, and other crime dramas are definitely my guilty pleasure.

Books:

All of the Harry Potter books, The Tao of Pooh, musician biographies/ autobiographies, The Sweet Potato Queen's Book of Love (If you read and understand this book, you are very likely worthy of being Rutabaga Queen).

Heroes:

People who don't whine about what they want to do... they go out and do it.
