Local. I appreciate innovative musicians who are producing and performing because they love what they do. It helps if they're good. My current favorites are: Anything Steve Albini, Leonard Cohen,the girl from The Moldy Peaches(I just love her voice), The Wasted, Blonde Redhead, The Smiths, Johnny Cash, Granddaddy, Jeff Magnum, The Joggers, The Mountain Goats, The Animal Collective, Matty Charles and the Valentines, M. Ward, Joni Mitchell (i had no idea), John Lennon (but not all of the Beatles) music from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I'm ready for new favorites. SERIOUSLY. ANY HELP HERE? i like music that is hard to find or won't be played on the radio dial. and ummm, chocolate rain.
it's hard to enjoy movies now because my husband and i either fall asleep too early or he dissects every aspect about the production. yes, honey I see the cookie on the wall. haha! that makes us sound like we are on acid.
bad reality tv. boring forensic crime stuff. when i was in the hospital i saw an episode of jerry springer for the first time in ten years. i don't want to see people eating jello salad off of other people. really.

the man who pushes the traffic button incessantly all day long because he believes he's helping congested traffic. men who can hold a conversation with one woman without turning to leer at another woman as she walks past. people who flail around while listening to music and don't care who's watching. people who rip apart polaroid film with their teeth and then transfer it onto laundromat windows while drunken frat boys call them crazy. that last one was biased. newest heroes? people who can let go gracefully. let's get sappy here: my husband. my daughter. my friends and family. people who donate produce to low income families. FRUITS AND VEGETABLES SHOULD NOT BE A LUXURY. here's a good one: people who didn't vote for bush and the war. you know, people with a goddamn brain in their heads.
