DAVID MALCOLM MCGRUDER
David-Malcolm McGruder is a young man with a mission of impacting the world through the Word of God. At the young age of 11 David was licensed, to preach, November 21, 1999, at the Salem Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. C.B. Bailey. David is currently a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church where Dr. R. L. Baynham is pastor. In 2006 David graduated from Washington High School where he was an Honor Roll Student, 6A Kansas State Forensics Champ: Prose Division, 6A Kansas State Debate 1st Place Speaker Award, Solution Seeker, P.E.E.R. Mediator, S.A.A.V. (Student Advocacy Against Violence) Executive Board Member, Student Advisory Board President, Student Council Member, Student Senate Member, Mr. Washington High School (Student Body President). He is also a young man who longs for knowledge, so much so, that at age13 he enrolled in the certificate of completion program at the Western Baptist Bible College, taking courses at night while attending his regular schooling during the day. This scholastic pursuit allowed him to study: Advanced Preaching, Homiletics I & II, Contemporary Theology, Systematic Theology I & II, Hebrew I & II, receiving certificates of completion in all of them.
During the summer of 2005 David attended the Junior Statesmen Academy at Georgetown University. David graduated from the program in the top 5% of his class and was elected Student Senator of the Year by the faculty and was chosen to be graduation speaker by his peers. David has been extended invitations to speak across the nation allowing him to cross denomination and racial lines. More notably: National Baptist Convention USA, INC. Congress of Christian Education , National Youth Leadership Conference on Law (Harvard University), Aspen Institute of Education, National Student Government Association Leadership Conference (Yale University), Missouri Legislative Black Caucus, Greater Kansas City Youth Leadership Symposium. David was a 2006 NAACP ACT-SO participant in Washington D.C., competing in the category of oratory.
David is currently pursing an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, where he has served as co-founder to the "Black Crisis, Black Change" movement. This forth coming semester David will serve on the advisory board for the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel under the direction of Dean Lawrence E. Carter. He will also be a contributing author in a new book entitled "The Day Daddy Left: A Conspiracy to Destroy Black Males." The books other authors are also Morehouse students and is scheduled for release Spring 2008.Upon completion of his undergraduate work, David plans to further his education by attaining a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Social Ethics and a Doctorate of Theology with a concentration in Liberation Theology. Although his main career goal includes a pastorate, David also wants to become a college Professor and teach Theology or Philosophy at one of the countries elite universities, as well as become the most prolific lecturer in the country in the area of Theological Studies. David hopes to also serve his country in the U.S. Congress one day. Through his scholarship, service and activism David wants to empower his community by teaching spiritual development, social consciousness, political awareness and economic self-sufficiency.
David is the son of Marvin Lee & Anne Davis McGruder, he is the eldest of their three children which include Marlayna and Phillip McGruder.
