I'm a PhD student in cultural anthropology, with a medical focus. I mostly work with Somali refugees in the United States. I specifically look at how cultural practices get adapted and translated in different environments, and information dissemination in social networks, and their effect on health-seeking behaviors.
I'm very eclectic in my interests and hobbies. My two main hobbies are bellydancing and fire play (poi, eating, breathing). I am also a film nut and will watch anything from Z-movies to masterpieces, but preferably not pop-movies. I am somewhat selective as to what goes in my ears and head, which means that I'm a little picky about the music I choose to listen to.
