What does not kill me makes me stronger

About Me

I am English and have lived in the US for the last 22 years (still got my accent though) and am currently a research scientist at a major dug company, I am fit, healthy, honest, fairly intelligent and have a good sense of humor, although I am told like most English people it is very dry. I think I have now adjusted to being single again after 20 years and need to start getting on with my life. The bar and club scene I do not have a lot of time for at the moment so I thought I would give myspace a shot to make new friends.

My Interests

Pittsburgh Steelers, video games, puzzles and games of all kinds, reading, track (I used to run middle distance and am still an avid follower of the sport), English soccer, most things technical/scientific. I like to be active walking, hiking, cycling etc especially in the mountains not that there are many round here. Cross country skiing is something I want to try. I like novel experiences and am open to trying anything new (except sushi and opera).

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people

Music:

Classical oldies from the 60's, light rock from the 70's 80's and 90's especially Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Police, Bread, Eagles, James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Petshop Boys and Cat Stevens. Vocals are more important to me than the music. With most current music I have trouble hearing the vocals however I do like Green Day and Norah Jones. Heavy metal and rap I have little tolerance for

Movies:

Anything Sci-fi (not horror) or animated. Decent action and mystery movies and comedies. I like a lot of the old mystery movies, for example the Thin Man series.

Television:

I watch a wide variety of things from educational programs to cartoons. Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, Dr. Who, 4400, Angel, Charmed, Nova , Mythbusters, Military and History channels, Simpsons, Jimmy Neutron, Fairy Odd Parents, Kim Possible, Last Avitar, Grounded for Life, War at Home, Yes Dear, According to Jim, British Drama, CNN and of course football.

Books:

I read a lot mainly sci-fi/fantasy and mystery and have a small library of about 1500 books. All the authors I like are too numerous to mention here but a few that come to mind are. Brooks, Ludlum, Chalker, Pratchet, Archer, Jordan, Deighton, Feist, Asimov and Goodkind

Heroes:

Harry Chapin, Herb Elliot, Wolverine and Homer Simpson
