As a culture, as a country, we've got to start respecting life.

About Me

Darrent Williams: Sept. 27 1982 - Jan. 1 2007Denver broncos cornerback Darrent Williams, known as D-Will, attended a birthday/New Years party for Denver Nuggets player Kenyon Martin at a Downtown Denver Nightclub Sunday evening. The Broncos had been eliminated from playoff contention earlier in the evening and a few of the Bronco's players were in attendance including D-Will, OLB DJ Williams, and star WR Javon Walker. At or around 2:00 AM D-Will left the club following a confrontation at the nightclub that did not directly include him but did include people from his party. Javon Walker, DJ Williams, and D-Will among other partygoers all reportedly left together in a Hummer SUV Limo. Witnesses said it appeared a rock was thrown at the vehicle, seconds later shots were fired. Bullets sprayed the Limo in an execution style drive by. Police will not release who the other passengers were. (The limo holds up to 23 and reports of J. Walker and DJ Williams being present are from sources outside of the Denver PD. Javon Walker was seen at the Broncos facilities in the early morning after the incident with blood smeared across his shirt.)Darrent Williams was a gifted athlete who could light up a room with his beaming smile. He was a star cornerback at Oklahoma State University and a rising star within the Denver Bronco's organization. D-Will was from Texas and has two young children in the Fort Worth area. D-Will was an exciting young man, at 5 foot 8 his athletic ability was incredible, his vertical was enough that he could dunk by high school and had blazing 4.4 forty-speed. His heart and determination helped him rise to the challenge of covering players who were obvious mismatches as far as sheer size is concerned. His heart was huge he played hard and had a desire to give back. D-Will had dreams of establishing a free youth football camp in the D-FW area (efforts are still being made to make his dream a reality). D-Will amassed 78 solo tackles and 4 INT's in just his second year in the league. D-Will was a great player and teammate. His loss goes much further than the football field. D-Will was a great example of what hard work and effort can yield. Coach Joe DeForest, Williams' position coach at Oklahoma State said: "He was the greatest player I have coached in my 20 years. He wanted to prove to the world that he could play. He had a chip on his shoulder and I mean that in a good way. He wanted to prove himself, and that's the way he approached every game. It was what made him a great player."It is easy to imagine all the times Darrent was probably told he was to little or couldn't do it…Darrent had size where it mattered most, in his heart. Please make room in yours for Darrent and his family in this difficult time.
