About Me


hi, i am a music promoter and publicist. i work or have worked with some wonderful i-town bands and musicians: thousands of one, kevin kinsella, j-san, and revision. also speech from arrested development, who features on the new thousands of one cd.
i plan and promote events, fundraisers, and concerts, and work part-time at the multicultural resource center . here are some of the events and shows i've helped plan and promote:

before i got into the music biz, i worked as a freelance journalist, covering anti-war activism, gender and race issues, environmental news, and women's issues for publications such as the nation , women's enews , teaching tolerance , adbusters and many more.
i'm interested in working with others to create a new paradigm for living sustainably in a just community.
i am a mother to three people named briana, adrian and lily. what a blessing to have them in my life:

My Interests

on the lighter side: music. dancing. books. films. playing with kids. friendly banter. debate. humor. cooking. local foods. health and well-being. hiking. swimming. local beer and wine.
on the deeper side: politics. media literacy. ending racism and other forms of oppression. stopping global warming and war. living sustainably. equity in education. raising conscious kids.

I'd like to meet:

people who are creative. parents in ithaca with similar interests. people who like to take walks in gorges with kids and dogs. friends who like to cook food together and listen to music mixes. people interested in urban co-housing.

Music:

local i-town music, socially conscious hiphop, reggae, funk, jazz, electronica.

Movies:

sophie scholl, schindler's list, knocked up, crash, do the right thing, rabbit proof fence, whale rider, malcolm x, babel, about a boy, i heart huckabees, lost in translation, secretary, pride and prejudice, bend it like beckham, sicko, shrek, indie films and political activist films too like franti's 'i know i'm not alone' and 'super size me' and michael moore films.

Television:

no TV today kids!

Books:

Favorite authors: Audre Lorde, Alice Walker, Barbara Kingsolver, David Sedaris, Richard Wright, Maxine Hong Kingston, James Baldwin, Sandra Cisneros, Howard Zinn. I read the Sun Magazine cover to cover every month.
Good books: Harry Potter series, The Lovely Bones, The Red Tent.
Mostly these days I read articles, essays and news online.
