HOME- Tales From Dirt Town
BFX WARRIORS: Knowing your level of popularity at the Al Rosa. How does it feel appearing at Dime’s last Venue?
STEELE : You know…it’s a been a club that’s been around since the 70’s and anybody that’s anybody has come to that club. It definitely was really weird playing there at first.
But you know, It’s a rock club we came out of and we really enjoy playing there. So we’re really sorry for everything that happened there and we wish that it wouldn’t have happened but we continue on.BFX WARRIORS: Can you share some dead easy guitar moves guaranteed to make the audience pump their fists in the air?
STEELE: Just grab your penis region as much as possible and just uh stick your tongue out, it seems to work fine.
BFX WARRIORS: Dead or alive who is your favorite guitarist and your favorite band?
STEELE: Goodness, favorite guitar player? I don’t know that’s a hard one. I guess as far as just straight out I really like the guitar player for Stone Temple Pilots a lot I think he’s a great you know I don’t think its all show. You don’t have to have really blazing solos to impress me. I like just somebody that can put together some unique rhythms and melodies. That’s a hard question; people ask me that a lot, I really honestly can’t answer that man.
STEELE: My favorite band? I don’t know. That’s another hard question there’s just too many, too many to name.Fellow Warrior-Dizzy360: How long have you been playing guitar?
STEELE: I would say I’ve been playing a total for probably somewhere around 15 years now, yeah 15 years.Fellow Warrior-Hatchetdown88: As far as your music goes. What are you looking forward to the most? Tours, tour dates, releases?
STEELE: We definitely right now focused on the new album and we can’t wait to get that done. We’re about to be in Atlanta for 6 weeks finishing it and then immediately start working on the artwork for the album so right now in the camp that’s what we’re most excited about getting our new music, our new songs that we’re really proud of and really excited to get out there to all of our fans.BFX WARRIORS: Will you guys be bringing back any other tunes for the new album like re-mixes stuff like that?
STEELE :Absolutely not. It will be a brand new album. We’ve been through a lot in the last year and I think it’s really going to be a reflection of what this bands been through and just the overall mood of the band. So just look for a dark moody album.
BFX WARRIORS: How many hours a day do you practice?
STEELE: When we are home we rehearse anywhere from 5 to 8 hours a day.
BFX WARRIORS: Since being with TVT Records have you had more room to be creative or does the label push ideas of what your sound should be like?
STEELE: The label? We are a very fortunate act. I guess I have to attribute to the fact that we’re good song writers and that we don’t really need somebody to come in and write our music for us. But no, we have complete artistic freedom. That’s something we had to really push for and to fight for but we have proven ourselves and yeah, we’ll be handling it. We bring in other people. We brought in producers and stuff and wrote songs with them and everything but that’s still us writing the song just with an outside view sometimes is a lovely thing. But yeah, we have artistic freedom.
BFX WARRIORS: Can you take us through your live gear? Setup, Guitars, Strings.
STEELE: I’m sponsored by S.I.T. strings, Michael Kelly guitar. I play the phantom. I’m sponsored by Mesa-Boogie so I use a Mesa head. Right now I’m playing through a Marshall cabinet just cause of preference. Other than that I have a SHURE wireless system that never works. I usually have to use just whatever cord I can find in the club or in another bands trailor.BFX WARRIORS What is your best experience on Gigantour?
STEELE: It was a few things. Getting to hang out with Dave Mustaine of course was unbelievable. In the 80’s I had a mullet and was just in love with Dave Mustaine and Megadeth and everything. So I never thought years down the road I’d be on tour with him hangin’ out with him on my tour bus. We never thought we’d have a tour bus. Just getting to travel the entire country
and Canada on a tour bus was just a unique experience. We spent three months and it was just a never ending party and can’t wait to do it again.
Thanks again to Mike and the whole Bobaflex Family for letting us hang, hear some awesome new songs and taking the time to share with the fans!
