About Me

In the words of that infamous sailor, Popeye...."I yam who I yam and that's all that I yam." Sort of. With a few more complexities than when to eat my spinach, how to deal with the Oyl sisters and whether or not I'm going to be threatened any minute by some oversized neanderthal bully with no manners. And where the heck did this Swee'pea tyke come from anywho? And how did I get off on a Popeye subject to begin with?Soooo....what does any of that have to do about me? I dunno. I think basically what you see is what you get. No facades, no games.I am a wife and a lover, a daughter and a mother. A friend and a confidante, a delight to some and probably a pain in the butt to others. I am delighted and overjoyed that I am very much like my own Mom, something many women would dread being, methinks. I love a simple life with simple pleasures. Lightening storms entertain me more than television and I still get excited when I see a rainbow.Sometimes I think I'm a loner, preferring my own thoughts and quiet time to that of crowds and big parties. I guess I've been there and done all that. Growing up in the 60's and 70's in the San Francisco Bay Area, gives one many "entertainment options" and I definitely survived my share. Hey, it's not that I don't like to get out now and then. I do! And I can dress up as well as I can dress down. I feel as comfortable in a formal ball gown and makeup as I do my raggedy ripped up blue jeans with dirt on my face.I prefer the wide open spaces and will gladly dig in the dirt in my yard for hours on end instead of showing up at some office, meeting the deadlines of the corporate world and making sure their bottom line looks fabulous. My family and my extended family of friends are now my reason for.... just about everything. They are the life that pumps through my veins, they are the voices that turn words into song, they are the light that comes with each new day and my prayer at night for another tomorrow with them.

My Interests

Dirt. Power tools. A garden. Landscaping. Interior decorating. Learning to cook new things. Baseball. Wine. Building miniature houses and miniature furniture to go in those houses, although it has been awhile since I have been able to do that.

Television:

What's that? Oh yeah...that noise pollution device that I try to ignore most of the time. I did watch some television on a regular basis a few months back when I was at my Mom and Dad's for about 10 weeks. Some of it was ok. I like Grey's Anatomy and.....hmmmmm. I used to watch tv a long time ago for 3 shows, The Soprano's, OZ and Six Feet Under, but I don't even know if any of them are still around.

Books:

I LOVE books! I LOVE to read! But that's another indulgence I haven't experienced for awhile. Being legally blind without my contacts and needing new contacts has kept me from getting lost in the pages of dark mystery, whodunits, suspense and evil. Soon I hope to be able to go there again.

Heroes:

These are in no particular order...Carol Anne - For giving me life and then never giving up on teaching me what life is all about, even in death.Geri Lou - for giving me someone to look up to, someone to want to emulate. For the secrets we kept and her unconditional love.Christopher Ryan - For his amazing journey into adulthood, his unbelievable courage and his deep, deep love for his family.Brooke Lindsay - For her fire and passion and humor and drive. For knowing me so well that at times we don't even need to speak outloud, but just from heart to heart.Cathy - For saving my soul and my heart from dying.James - For being my Knight in Shining Armor. For whisking me away on his white horse and giving me a life I never would have dreamed of.Robert A. The most tenderhearted man to ever live. For his giving and forgiving and infinite love of his children, grandchildren and great granchildren. There is nothing he would not do fo any one of them.

Over the last, say 15 years or so I have gotten very used to My Quiet Time.  It's that time of day when I first wake up, get my cup of coffee and go and sit on the veranda.  It's My Time to ...
