You name it, I'm probably interested in at least in a vague, I heard something on NPR way.
You know, people. I would also like to meet: wealthy benefactors, co-conspirators, pleasure seekers, road trippers, urban explorers, spell checkers, lovers (both former and future), Salma Hayek (so I can put her in the previous category), good people, people my parents warned me about, fellow home singers and dancers.
Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, The Mountain Goats, 3 Inches of Blood, Propaghandi, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Fugazi, Weezer (up through green), Depeche Mode (more than I should), Erasure, Ryan Adams, The Boss, prety much any 80's new wave band, The Clash, The (English)Beat, Elvis Costello, The Jam, Joy Division, New Order, Bauhaus, The Cure, The Smiths, Duran Duran, Sir Mix-A-Lot (SWASS and Seminar especially), KMFDM, Rammstein,The Make-Up, Nation of Ulysses, Bad Religion, Magnetic Fields, The Thorns, Nick Lowe,Rancid, The Replacements. I am a huge fan of anthemic power pop. Nothing will get me going faster than the intro to a great power pop song. I really like anything done with both heart, soul, and a dash of style. I also think the song "Tighten Up" by Archie Bell and the Drells is maybe the greatest song ever.
Together (the swedish movie about a commune, not the MTV one about a boy band), The Killer, Indiana Jones and X, The Chateau, The 40 Year Old Virgin, All the Christopher Guest-Eugene Levy faux-documentaries, Versus, Lord of the Rings, Sin City, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Escape from New York, Evil Dead 1-3. I like all kinds of movies really.
I'm a sucker for serial cliff hanger dramas: 24, Alias, Prison Break, ER and for the more surreal comedies: Arrested Development, My Name is Earl, Malcolm in the Middle. I also like make over/improvement shows like: pretty much anything on HGTV, I believe I've seen every episode of Pimp My Ride (and loved them), Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, you get the gist, although I hate plastic sugery shows.
I read all kinds of different things. Anything in the Jack Chick Library. As a young nerd, I was conditioned to go to the fantsy/Sci-fi section of the bookstore first and still do even though I never read those books any more. Some of my favorite books are: "The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier and Klay", Neil Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, "A Farewell to Arms", Clive Cussler, and I for some reason have an unnatural, I don't understand it, hatred for Dean R. Koontz. Don't know why, just do.
People who take a stand. People who don't give up in their darkest hour. People who still hope.
