Sleepy Horses began in a living room in Lubbock, TX. Colt Miller, Amanda Shires, and Nic Goodson began recording lush West Texas folk....this project became Sleepy Horses. Within a few months Nic Goodson moved to Athens, GA.....there he began to play solo under the Sleepy Horses moniker and later would add several other members including Jason Peckham, Brandi Goodson, Jim Wilson, Kyle Harris, and Matt "Pistol" Stoessel....with this larger lineup in place, the band began to tour extensively throughout the Southeast, East Coast, and thru the West.....they also recorded an album, "Somewhere Out West, Lonesome For You". Within one week of releasing the record everything fell apart. Nic Goodson died in a hotel room on November 25, 2006. After being discovered by a hotel maid, he was taken to the hospital where he was revived. This incident forced Goodson to return to his homestate of Texas to recover.....he had suffered massive nerve damage to his right leg and was told that he may never walk again. While in TX, Goodson recovered slowly....after a few months he had even taught himself to walk again. Goodson made several treks thru Texas during his recovery visiting honky tonks, juke joints, and SXSW. On March 22, 2007 Nic Goodson played his first show in Athens, GA. This marked the next phase in Sleepy Horses' story....Nic added his good friends Justin Gregg (bass, vocals) and Dave Forker (drums, vocals) to the band. This trio may very well be the best incarnation of Sleepy Horses yet.....close friends, a fresh start, new songs, and a second chance at life for Nic Goodson.....
