I’ve realized by this point in my life that all we’re here to do is learn all there is to learn, experience as much of the world as possible and love one another to the fullest. I’ve wasted too much of my life worrying about my shortcomings, money, status and the myriad of things there are to worry about in this world. I try as hard as possible to not let these things distract me from becoming the man I know I should be. I’m not perfect nor will I ever be and I’m tired of a society that makes me feel insecure in order to make money off me. At 32 I’m finally begining to feel comfortable in the skin I’ve been trying to run away from my whole life.
With that said, I’m incredibly lucky to have had so many amazing people in my life that have helped me become the person I am. Family, friends, lovers and strangers who have all taught me how to love and be loved. How to truly listen, empathize and show compassion as we all go through this crazy process we call life.
I love to enjoy life’s pleasures to the fullest and share those pleasures with the people I love. You can often catch me perusing the town enjoying good food, cocktails and dancing away the night with some of my amazing friends. I’m a lover of whiskey, cigarettes and smart, witty people. I’m well aware that some of the things that bring me pleasure are “bad” for me and maybe one day I’ll grow up and learn how to delay gratification; but for now I'm enjoying myself and happiness and fulfillment are of the utmost importance to me at this stage in the game. I love to entertain and throw parties. I don’t often brag, but I am an AMAZING cook if I do say so; I've been know to put together an amazing spread! Nothing gives me more pleasure than watching people enjoy food that I’ve lovingly prepared. I love baking and decorating cakes; if you’re lucky you may get one for your birthday... but you gotta be real lucky!! I love to travel and the more time I spend in other countries the more I realize I want to live abroad at some point in my life. Where I don’t know, but the wheels are spinning.
As much as I thrive off social interaction, I also require frequent periods of “Erik” time to recharge, much to the chagrin of my patient friends. My alone time consists of numerous activities that most would find boring and possibly lame. I love decorating (and re-decorating) my apartment, cleaning (I know it’s weird – blame my grandmother!) cooking, reading, watching trash TV, napping, playin’ with my kitty, endless hours on the computer hunting the internet for interesting tidbits and useless Madonna facts, and I’m not afraid to admit I love playing computer D&D until my eyes bleed.
I guess all in all I’m a simple man and my only true dream in life is to find contentment and fulfillment regardless of the means. If that’s not enough info for you to digest, hit me up and ask away!
