When Stoupe breaks his silence, he chooses to express the inexpressible through music. For the past decade, Stoupe has moved in silence as an aural assassin and the producing half of one of underground rap music's most dominant groups, Jedi Mind Tricks. Shunning interviews and tour dates in favor of a private life, Stoupe's reclusiveness has become part of his legend and the reason why he remains one of the most well-known unknown producers. He hasn't achieved the household name acclaim of contemporaries like RZA (of the Wu-Tang Clan) and DJ Premier, but his influential body of work has drawn praise equal to their legendary status.
Most hip-hop producers sample a loop, lay some drums, and call it a day, but Stoupe has created a signature sound that often employs more than eighty tracks worth of drum sounds, samples, sound effects, and live instrumentation to create compositions that run the gamut from mosh pit anthems to soul piercing melodies. A signature sound is a sign of greatness in music, but evolution is paramount. Though Stoupe is most often recognized for his work as the in-house producer for Jedi Mind Tricks, he also teamed with the venerable emcee, Canibus, to produce all eleven tracks of his underground hit record, Rip The Jacker. Stoupe has produced a string of indelibly influential rap records that have sold over a quarter million copies combined. His production work has also been featured on various television channels, including ESPN, as well as the feature film, Full Clip, starring Busta Rhymes and Xzibit.
Stoupe remains camped out in a studio somewhere in Philadelphia plotting musical mayhem.
