About Me
Stephen Reid's lyrical works were displayed on the wall in his classroom as early as 8 years old. It wasn't until Stephen's mother and step-father purchased him a guitar for Christmas when he was 16 years old that he began to teach himself how to play as well as how to combine his lyrical gift with what he had learned. Stephen kept his talent hidden for 20 years, never playing or singing in front of anyone. During a stay at Lexington VA Hospital where Stephen attended as an inpatient to deal with PTSD that he had suffered from after serving 15 months in Vietnam, Stephen would slip down to the recreation hall and sign-out a guitar. It was during this time that the recreation staff gathered outside the door to listen. This was in 1985 and was the very first time anyone at all had ever heard Stephen. Shortly afterwards, with very strong encouragement from the VA staff, Stephen wrote a song dedicated to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. called 'Names Upon The Wall'. The song went on to receive one of the highest honours given in the USA. Stephen was asked to attend Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. to perform the song in front of an audience of over 10,000 people. Since that time Stephen has made international performances including international TV and radio appearances. Stephen has also written songtracks for several Hollywood movies. Stephen's purposely quiet career in music also includes opening for Country Music legend John Anderson at the Cynthiana Kentucky County Fair, spending time with Folk Legends Peter Paul & Mary, as well as stage performances throughout the U.S.A., Canada, U.K. and Africa.
Today, Stephen continues to write and record in his studio. To date, it is rare to see him perform live only because he is a very private person. Stephen's music remains very personal to him just like it did over the 20 years when nobody even knew he could play guitar. Unlike many who shove their talent down the throats of others, Stephen still continues to share his talent, never wishing to place himself in a position that could be looked upon as egotistical. Stephen is one of the most humble persons that anyone could ever wish to meet. He is real, he is honest and he always thinks of others first. If you have come to this page and are listening to Stephen, you need to know that Stephen will never put his musical works forward to gain attention or praise. His main objective is to share what many never heard for over 20 years. He only wants to share a bit of himself with you along his journey. If you can't appreciate that, well then, you have come to the wrong page....
BannerBreak.com - Banner Maker - Banners - MySpace LayoutsStephen's talent in vocals and his overall songwriting ability is terrific. The way the melodies of his songs flow are some of the best that I have heard in years.
I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen before one of his performances in the USA, and I must say that it was the highlight of my evening. Stephen is an Artist whose professionalism is outstanding . He also has an unbelieveable sense of humor, and has such a wonderful outlook on life and the human condition that I find very rare in people these days.
It shows in the way he performs and in the way he presents himself in general.
I am HONORED to know such a great Artist and proudly call him my friend, and I think you all should as well..Kenny Colgate-

Approximately two years ago, in early 2005, I began a search for a song I understood was never published, “Names Upon The Wallâ€. Stephen Reid was tracked down on My Space. I enquired if he wrote and sang “Names Upon The Wall†After all he is an honored U.S. Vietnam Veteran. Stephen Reid’s, God given talent of lyrical and musical abilities stem from the heart and soul. His music reflects his life’s journey, which in turn permeate into the heart and soul of every listenerStephen Reid was invited to perform, by U.S. Veterans Matter and N.Y. Rocks at Time Warner Cable, NY, for a September 11 tribute to celebrate the positive affects musicians have had in their life after a tragedy. Mr. Reid’s lyrics, dynamics for acoustics took center stage, as each heart and soul was “touched†by his presentation, and demanded an additional performance. The following day, at Liberty State Park, in NJ Stephen became inspired to write a second verse and complete “Names upon the Wallâ€. It was released on November 10, 2007, as an honorary tribute to the 25th Anniversary of the Wall of Remembrance. His return to the United Kingdom, allowed for deep reflection on newly founded appreciation for his talent. His life inspired lyrics are undeniably impressive, meaningful and deep in thought. His newly released songs, “The Kingâ€, “In My Dreamsâ€, and “Somewhere Back Home†are inspirational and motivational, in which listeners demand more songs! One would have to talk to Stephen to reveal where his new source of inspiration has arisen from. He has continued to dazzle, amaze and touch the hearts of Americans and Europeans alike!Stephen Reid has been selected to perform for an International Warrior Salute that will take place in December 2008. The people demand his talent and it shall be provided!(Lorrayne Mercier
