Troko (Markus Pesonen - guitars, Joonas Kuusisto - bass and Tatu Rönkkö - drums) was formed autumn 2005 in Helsinki and has been active since the beginning. Troko was born when Markus, Joonas and Tatu met at the same school (Helsinki Polytechnic, Stadia Pop/Jazz musicians study program) and realized that they all had similar visions of making music. Already from the first jam session together there was a special connection between these three young musicians and the band was about to find its own voice.Before forming the trio, each member has done lots of different projects together and separately. Because of versatile past experiences of each member, Trokos music is very colourful and open. Music is a personal and bold mixture, influenced by jazz, rock, country and ethnic styles. Although most of the pieces are composed, improvisation has a major role and music has very spontaneous character. Troko is breaking new ground for a different guitar trio and scatters the traditional roles of each instrument.
