About Me

I'm the one at every event with the camera in hand, and I'm not above making my friends re-enact something for the sake of a good shot. I don't dance unless I've been drinking a lot, even though I took dance for over 20 years. I read the paper and most magazines back to front. I have the coolest kids on the planet, and a woman just crazy enough to want to spend this life with me. The love of my life is my dog. I think the pinnacle of success will be discovering that I am the kind of person Murphy thinks I am. I'm a creature of habit, both the good and the bad. I'll trust you until you give me a reason not to, but after that it will be very hard for me to trust you again. I have no tolerance for cheaters (in life or relationships) and no time for "games". I know they call it Dyke Drama for a reason, but I'm too old for it. I am fiercely loyal. I'd do almost anything for those I call "my friends". My best friend in the whole world is my mother. I'd be lost without her.
I travel alot for my work, so I'm learning more and more every day to appreciate what I have at home.-- my family and my friends are my world.
I spent 10 years on the east coast, and so now I spell colour with a "U", and Theatre with the "E" on the end. I fill my tank with petrol, wear pants UNDER my trousers, and drink soda, thank you. "Pop" is at home with Mum.

My Interests

rugby, reading, theatre, watching most sports, big dogs (especially mastiffs), cooking (especially WITH someone, I think cooking together is very intimate),singing (badly, and off-key), playing pool (at which I am alternately brilliant and pathetic) wildlife rescue and conservation, animal rescue, human rights causes, sewing, working out, and SHOES.

I'd like to meet:

Real people. Aspergian people or parents of Aspergian children. People who think. "Theatre People". People with big dogs. Animal Rescue workers. People who play pool. Ruggers.

Music:

Jack Johnson, The Fray, Gin Blossoms, Killer Flamingos, Jamie Anderson, Sista Otis, Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, Bitch, Melissa Ferrick, Ember Swift, Harry Chapin, Peter Paul and Mary, NIN, Joan Baez, Stephen Sondheim, Rascal Flatts, Tanya Tucker, Keith Urban, Bruce Springsteen, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan (or better redos of stuff he wrote)..... Pretty much everything except old country, really heavy metal, or gangsta rap, the more "Acoustic" sounding the better. "Funky and Odd" is good.

Movies:

Office Space, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Chicago... It's got to be good to hold my attention for 2 hours.

Television:

ER, Cold Case, The Office, WorkOut (I want to be Jackie Warner when I grow up), Judging Amy reruns, Law and Order, SVU, and Criminal Intent (but only the older ones with D'Onofrio, the newer ones suck). CSI (the original and Miami). Most of the "Animal Cops" type shows, even though they piss me off. I love the Discovery Channel, TLC, and I have a weird fascination with the Food Network. I watch the L Word, but don't actually care for it much. The best TV show ever made was Chicago Hope, and I'm sad that it's not on anymore.

Books:

Angela's Ashes, Tis, The Poisonwood Bible, Rubyfruit Jungle, Weekends with Maury, The 5 People We Meet In Heaven..... I will read just about anything, but I lean toward the "memoir-esque" variety.

Heroes:

It sounds cliche, but my mom. And anyone who faces the unknown with their head held high and a smile on their face.

Something to think about: Be a red sock.

When you put a red sock in the wash with other things, everything comes out with a pink tinge, but the sock still comes out red. Let your good work ethic and interpersonal behaviors influence others--...

I am home from Columbus... what a roller coaster

Pictures of the trip will follow at some point. The show itself was stressful, but we did have some down time, and D and Murphy came out to visit midway through, which was nice.  We went to ...

The things that matter most

My mother is my world.  I'd be lost without her.  She's been going through a rough time right now, and I can't make it better, and that hurts more than anything.  My children ar...
