Influences:Harlem-bred rapper Governor Brown’s new 16-track album, promises to remind people why they fell in love with hip-hop. Governor Brown wanted to introduce a new sound reminiscent of the early days of Hip Hop when beats popped and bodies naturally grooved to good music. The title tracks “Maniac†and “Luv You in the Morning,†remain faithful to the genre and in 2008, the masses are ready to sample something new.Born in New York City, Governor Brown a.k.a. Gabriel Guity, lived on New York’s legendary Lenox ave down the street from Cam’ron. The two attended junior high and played junior varsity basketball together. Rather than attending college after high school, he began to record in New York City studios at age 18. By this age Governor had already been in a rap group, preformed in numerous shows, and use the same facilities studio where 50 Cents, and famed DJs Stretch Armstrong recorded.Governor Brown has been very dedicated in succeeding in the music industry. He began to record, produce and arrange music. He is also co-owner of BBM production studios, where he currently creates his magic. The name of his Record label is El Media. He has some extremely talented artists behind him from different genres of music. Once given the opportunity for distribution, Governor’s business presence will be felt through his demographic from undeniable talent and record sales.Young Governor is known for his collaborations with artists such as JR Writer, Peedi Crack, Bezel, Uncle Murder, Hell Rell and many others affiliated with the Roc a fella and Diplomats camps. He has worked with such DJ’s like DJ Capone, Dj Envy and DJ Kay Slay. He has also worked with top mixing engineers like Dan da Man from Axis Studio/Da Man productions, Grammy nominated recording engineer Jim Caruana. He’s also worked with The Wonder Twins and has appeared on Hip Hop Nation, the Sonic and Lord Vader Show.Governor Brown’s audience has grown since the release of his mix tape, The Best of Governor Brown, in 2006. He now has attained a national mix show buzz in 26 markets through out the United States. He can be consistently heard on Power 99 and 100.3 (The Beat) in Philly. “Hands Up,†featuring Bezel from the Diplomats, was a radio promotional track that received play as far west as Chicago and as far south as ATL. Currently, his new track “ Maniac “ has been acquiring a good amount of spins on mix show and according to media base and BDS; we project the song breaking into rotation. Governor show’s on “ Maniac†that he is not scared to explore the uncharted pop region that can ultimately sacrifice your street cred, but is also more concerned in making feel good music with a ruff edge. In a time where hip-hop is under a lot of scrutiny, Gov shows its ok to be different. Exploiting the retro 80’s sample, dancing and having a good time is in! Ring tones, Downloads, and record sales will sky rocket and hip-hop will be back.In Decision 2008, His new mix tape cd, Governor Brown has a song for the ladies, “Luv Me In the Morning,†which is a dance song about men’s pursuit of women. “Maniac,†refers to someone from the ‘hood whose horizons lead him to seek more experiences and the struggles that this person must overcome to reach a higher goal.Governor Brown has also been seeking new horizons. He will be release a series of mix tapes including his album entitled The Campaign, regarding the presidential campaign referencing both the Republicans and the Democrats because Governor Brown understands that politics can bring needed change to communities and to states. Governor Brown represents the new change for Hip Hop community. He is here to change how people view urban street music.The son of Honduran Garifunas (the mixed-race Black and Indigenous populations exiled to the coastal regions of Central America), speaks enough Spanish to holla’ to the ladies.
