I am the widow of William Wirt Winchester, son of Oliver Winchester, who started the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in New Haven Connecticut. Though the deaths of my husband and mother-in-law made me extraordinarily wealthy through the inheritance of their stock and co-controlling interest in the company, I fear the company itself resulted in their deaths, and the deaths of others in my family, including my young daughter. The spirits of all those killed over the years by our rifles are responsible. A Boston psychic tells me that I will be next unless I build a house to these spirits' instructions. This unending project, I am told, will bring me eternal life.
