Assembled from all across the country, Heathen Culture is Joe Clarke, John Frater, Tom Roggensees, and Scott Breshears. This self proclaimed “eclectic†rock quartet got their start in central San Diego in the summer of 2006. Since then they’ve independently recorded and produced their own full length album and seeded a growing following of fellow heathens around San Diego and outlying regions.
Tom and Scott grew up together in San Diego playing as a rhythm section in a series of local metal projects while Joe and John were in other parts of the country developing their own styles of music. As if by fate the four passed in and out of each other’s lives for over 2 years until John and Joe put their respective feet down and moved to San Diego to bring their fingers and tongues to the masses. The demo “come see us before we die…†was released in December 2006 to warm fan response and local radio play. This was then extended and polished into their debut full length record carrying the same name.
Currently the heathens are playing around the local scene to promote their latest release while working on a new record, the self titled follow up. While on the lookout for rising opportunities on all fronts, in the meantime everything is being done independently with a zealous fervor.
A heathen is a cultureless savage who acts on selfishness and base instincts, and has not "seen the light". To somebody else in the world each and every one of us is a heathen and for most part, its true. So why not cut the bullshit? Get up and dance with the band that represents us all.
