1920s Berlin cabaret, Symbolism in art and literature, the blurred lines of wisdom and decadence.
The man behind the velvet curtain.
PS: no more than 200 friends can fit behind said velvet curtain... (I started to feel like Tila Tequila when I crossed 1000, so I deleted all not-real-world friends from this profile... this page is private now, so if you can read this, I DO check up on you via your profile!!!) xo Tom
David Bowie, Nina Simone, Marlene Dietrich, T Rex, David Sylvian, Suede, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Queen, Leonard Cohen, Afghan Whigs, The Church, Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme, and lots of pop and hair metal bands from the 80s that are less embarassing today than they were a week ago. Heavy Rotation this month: Billy Bragg, Sigur Ros, The Format, some old Dream Academy and the new Cutting Crew (really!).
I only watch movies that come with explanatory textbooks. These "moving" "pictures" are so confusing to me.
I swear to God I love The Rifleman and I don't care who knows it.
Re-reading "A Princess of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs... it's the 1912 book that made Carl Sagan and Ray Bradbury dream of life on other worlds... and the brilliant "Lord Byron's Doctor" by Paul West. Freak Like Me, by Jim Rose. Favorites: Grant Morrison's "Invisibles", H. P. Lovecraft, Symbolist poets like Baudelaire... LOTS of 19th century art reference as I research a new book... and THIS!
I wish I could swim like the dolphins.
