About Me

I'm just your average 30 something gay white male. Now, if only life were Reaaally that easy, all would be good, no? Life has been a roller coaster for me, as it may be for many of you. To sum it all up, I'm in a period of transition, from boy to man, scoundrel to saint, from self loathing to self loving. Thus, I'm fragile...so don't fuck with me (I can be nasty). I'm a Nurse, formerly working in private practise with a specialty in HIV/AIDS medicine. Before that, I specialised in cardiac medicine and loved both really. As of February 4th, 2008, I start a new career path in Hospice Medicine. Wish me luck! I live in a modest sized two bedroom apartment ONE block from the mighty Pacific Ocean (Ocean Beach, baby!). I share my habitat with my boy, Chuck, three cats: Kiki ("Kookoo for Kiki-puffs"), Mr. Bojangles,(asshole and many other numerous nicknames of that ilk), Aria (Songbird, chirper) and the spirit of my beloved cat of 13 years, Shadow.

My Interests

I like to jog. I'd like to say I run marathons, but that's just not true, lol. I find it physically and mentally calming. I read, should do so more than I do as..well let's face it, the mind needs to be stimulated more than the computer can provide. I love food and sometimes when in the mood can be a downright decent cook. I'm moderately politically active but not a zealot (however I reserve the right to detest the "right" wing at this moment due to the fact they're basically moronic...and don't even get me going on the "religious" "right"..as I find them neither). Human rights are important, and gay rights (of course) as that is close to home for me. Oh, I love movies....some for insightfulness and others just for sheer entertainment. Love 'em!

I'd like to meet:

I'd love to meet "Furious" George Bush and give him a peice of my liberal gay mind. Heck, I'd settle for meeting anybody in that hated administration (at least the ones who've not resigned to attempt and avoid prosecution) just for a good tongue thrashing. The Bush Administration is just plain criminal. There isn't one aspect of our once beautiful and mostly respected country that hasn't been tainted by the evil of this would be emperor and his court. This may set me up for all kinds illegal NSA intrusions, but so what. Until they officially outlaw our civil rights, I'll say what I please. Aside from all that, I think I'd love to meet Randy Rhodes (I DO hope I got that spelling correctly) because she rocks the a.m. airwaves. I'd also like to meet Damon Albarn and Jude Law, on account that I think they're beautiful. On the more realistic side, meeting people from various walks of life who are of a like mind with me is always a treat. You'll find I'm friendly but shy. I'm "that" person who never talks when you first meet him, but when you get to know me I will never shut up.

Music:

If it comes from Britain (or similar), I most likely will enjoy it. That just seems to be the way it goes with me...into favorourites such as PSB, Erasure (I know, so very gay), and Morrissey. Blur (they were so cool!) Postal Service..hmmmm. Oldies like Depeche Mode, Smiths...I could go on forever. Also liking Coldplay tons. Here I go ranting, but WTF is all this talk about "EMO"? A trendy new name doesn't a music movement make.

Movies:

I highly recommend "Stardust"...Hilarious! All time fav: STAR WARS!! yes, I'm a geek. I prefer the first trilogy far more as I believe the second set focused way too much on marketing as opposed to the story of Anakin Skywalker's redemption. I'm also a fan of many Sci-Fi films (DUNE, the original and the television series) and really really liked "Kill Bill" for some reason. Maybe its because I enjoy a good flick where the "chick" kicks proverbial boo-tay!

Television:

Don't watch much. I used too, when television wasn't hell bent on "reality" shows which are far from realistic. I turn on the tube to suspend reality, see a good story or drama. Star Trek, X-files and Buffy...I miss them all dearly. Currently the show "Heroes" has me mesmorised! BBC's "Torchwood" and "Robin Hood". Awesome. Robin and Captain Jack..just too yummy! Dr. Who and recently "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"! Woot! Hot show! Brings back hope in Network television. WTF is up with the new show with the lie detector? Are we so crazed for ridiculous personal drama that we don't find enough in our own real lives? *sighs*

Books:

Stephen King..what can I say other than, thank you man for all the good books! Currently I'm reading "He's the one" By Timothy James Beck. ( I know a secret 'bout that author--tee hee) I'm also in posession of a smattering of love/drama/comedy books by various gay authors (gotta support the home team). I recommend "Conversations with God"..the whole series and "The Four Agreements". Insightful. Have a small collection of "tasteful" smut. You can ask me later what my definition of that would be :)

I know its corny, but Mother Teresa was heroic. And now to find out that she always doubted her faith! That just makes her more beautiful in my eyes. She did all that goodness despite a lagging faith in god. Its ironic to me..this poor little old woman was far more christlike than the bloated windbags who issue the name Jesus over and over again yet....well, I don't believe in hell, but if I did I'd be unsurprised to find "those" men there *cough*JERRY FALLWELL*coughcough...may he rest in inferno-hot buttered lard forever.... I basically think just about anybody who stands up for human rights and dignity is a hero. My mother is also very heroic..I mean, she put up with me for all this time! This world needs more heroes. Look around yourself for the hero not only in yourself, but in everyday man(humanity)...its in there, just waiting to come out.
