I really only like books on child psychology, adoption, foster care, child abuse, and things relating to the above. Dave Pelzer is an amazing author. Torey Hayden's books are amazing; however, I cannot say she is a brilliant writter. I am currently reading Lovely Bones - thanks Lindy for the reccommendation.
