About Me

I'm an author, illustrator and designer of numerous books including The Lover's Path and The Book of Goddesses . I also created two tarot decks, the Goddess Tarot and the Lover's Path Tarot and a new oracle deck, The Goddess Inspiration Oracle. My official author website is at www.artandwords.com .
I am fascinated with women's stories, sacred and profane -- in my books, I've written about goddesses as well as courtesans .
I have a toddler-age daughter. I spend too much time with her in coffeehouses. In an ideal world, I would indulge in more cafe society. I'd also have a palazzo in Venice and wear velvet gowns in November.
I have a long-established blog that I post news about my life and work on a regular basis. Just so you know, some of my blog posts do make it over here on my myspace blog -- I post highlights from it here on myspace occasionally. But for the whole kahuna, I invite you to visit it at www.artandwords.com/journal/.
To learn more about my work, you can also sign up for my bimonthly newsletter. It offers extra news about my new publications and exhibitions, as well as subscriber-only freebies, raffles and gift offers. Subscribe now and you'll receive a thank you gift -- I'm currently giving away an advance 36 page excerpt from the Goddess Inspiration Oracle , which includes 12 goddess oracle cards and meanings.
You can also try a free online tarot reading with the Goddess or Lover's Path Tarot at tarotgoddess.com , a site I designed to showcase my decks.

My Interests

Creating incredibly beautiful and inspiring books. Spending too much time obsessing about the state of the world. Admiring my daughter. Travel and cello. Venice. Goddesses. Snark a la McSweeney's. Beauty.

I'd like to meet:

Kindred souls, art and tarot goddesses, and other publishing folk and writers. Please, no band or offers for Myspace editing software et al.

Movies:

Orlando, Babette's Feast, All About Eve, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Secets and Lies, the new rendition of Pride and Prejudice, Kill Bill II. Anything with Johnny Depp in it (even Dead Man) or Jean Reno (even Godzilla). Anything by Tim Burton.

Television:

Project Runway, Daily Show, Colbert Report. Too much Blues Clues (but that's because of my daughter).

Books:

Mine, of course! The Book of Goddesses , The Lover's Path: An Illustrated Novel , et cetra. As for other authors, too many to list. Some relatively recent faves: The Time Traveler's Wife (totally devastated me in the best possible way), Ruth Reichl's memoirs, Kitchen Confidental, The Artist's Way, Drawing Down the Moon, When God was a Woman. Also illustrated books of the Italian renaissance and the Victorian era.

Heroes:

Athena, William Morris, John Waters, Steven Colbert, Colette, Gandhi
