In his song "Ahh," which he wrote, L'Jay hits a high G. But after rolling four times in an SUV and 3 1/3 weeks in the hospital, L'Jay realized life itself is the gift. He was treated for head, neck, back, arm and eye injuries. On Feb. 8, 2008 a few hours after the funeral of his grandmother, L’Jay’s cousin, Aaron Kelly, 13, was shot and killed leaving a family picnic at Louis Park. “I’ve cried all I can cry with my grandmother and Kelly”, L’Jay said. “I feel numb.” Tragedy with L’Jay seems to go hand and hand, well along with success… Well known for his style on and off the mic with music notes on his face. The singer/writer/producer/promoter has performed all over North America also in Canada and Mexico. Within the last 12 months, L’Jay has performed with top artists such as Chris Brown, Lloyd, Mims, Paula Deanda, Colli Buddz, Candy Hill, Chico Dedarge even legendary artists like The Platters and The Coasters. And April 11 L’Jay will hit the stage with Jon. B. in Hayward Univ. Play Girl Magazine has felt L’Jay’s touch for the Documentary “Don't Hate: Strippers Fight the Government" in the October edition of 2007 for 12 tracks he recorded, wrote and produced. L’Jay owns and established Clef Notes Ent., which helps artist get exposure by performing for corporations including Macy's and events such as the State Fair, car shows, colleges and more. L’Jay hosts The Original Grown & Sexy R&B Concert Series monthly, he also is the founder of Club Climaxx series which is an all weekend party event. L'Jay's music and shows have been featured in local and national media. L'Jay is the epitome of a bay area artist with his independent drive and constant struggles.
