Masonic Boom

That girl who does those drawings.

About Me

Masonic Boom is an independent songwriter/producer. I play guitar, bass, keyboards, and do programming in Reason and Cubase. Currently songwriter and guitarist for Shimura Curves
I also play the role of "Michael Rother" in Zuckerzeit , an all-girl Harmonia/Cluster/NEU! tribute band with Frances from Morgen Und Nite and Emily from the Chemistry Experiment.
Sometimes I write and/or draw for Plan B if they twist my arm hard enough, but only ever under various pseudonyms. No, I won't review your band, so don't ask me. Sorry. I also draw psychedelic cartoons - you can find me with a sketchbook down the front of Sonic Cathedrals , Psychodahlia and Night of the Long Swords .
I'm starting a zine called The Guild of Further Art with Mia , dedicated to showcasing art inspired by and based on music from the psych/drone/shoegaze scene. I've been doing a lot of poster art and album art for various bands, this is a way to bring together artists working within the music scene. Email if you want to get involved.
People, this is my PERSONAL MySpace. I am unlikely to add you unless I know who you are, you're a friend of a friend, or you send me a nice little personal email saying hello and saying why I should add you. Sorry.
WOULD LIKE TO MEET:
Boys (especially Dirty Dronerock Boys) who will let me photograph / draw them. Especially if they are willing to take their shirts off. (Don't worry, it is a purely AESTHETIC thing, not a weird sexual thing. I won't molest you. I just need to work on my figure drawing skillz.)
If you want to see more drawings, there are some on my Flickr
You can buy a full colour A3 poster of the PEACLOCK for £5 mail order - email me for details.

The Last Taboo

Oh, categories, you have failed me again. Something has been bothering me, and that means I end up here, trying to puzzle it out. Another messageboard, another tiff, another tiny bit of faith in the h...

We Used To Be Friends, A Long Time Ago

Argh! What am I doing! After just telling Lisa that I need to take a break from booking and playing gigs, what am I doing? Rounding up another one... Relax. Stop flapping. Last night I went to see the...

THE GUILD OF FURTHER ART

OK, this is real. When I held it in my hands last night, it felt real for the first time. It's quite something, that feeling when you hold a sheaf of uncollated and unstapled zine pages, and put them ...

Dignifying That With A Response

OK, this is my biggest bugbear, the thing that upsets me the most and winds me up the most. You write and ask someone a direct question. (By email, as this is usually the preferred medium of communica...

Forward Into The Past

Some scenes from a messageboard. We were talking about "Indie" in specific, but many of the criticisms levelled explain exactly my discontent with the current shoegaze/psych/drone scene: Klaus M. Flan...

Permission To Fail

Nothing. No email, no comments, no adds, not even any interesting bulletins. Well, that doesn't help my mood of isolation and futility today. I went out last night, and I'm not sure that helped. I hat...

Doing A Bit Of A Depressed

I went home at 4pm yesterday, and totally missed Sonic Cathedral. I've been coming down with a cold (thanks, my boss!) and after sitting all day with the air con blowing on me, I could take it no more...

Minor Setbacks

Well, it turns out that Mainline don't want to use the poster I did for them as "the writing isn't clear enough" and they wanted something more text based. I'm not upset, just kind of perplexed. ...

Norwegian Dream Bear Lover

Norway is in my head, because Frances went to Oslo this weekend, and kept sending me emails and messages about how lovely it all was. I would say that it was synchronicity, because I was listening to ...

Other Peoples Cigarettes

Bloody work! It gave me MySpace back long enough to write this blog entry, explaining the new song upload, but didn't give me time to save it... luckily, I managed to copy and paste quickly enough......
