Sgt. 1st Class Joselito Villanueva

SFC Joselito Villanueva was born in the Republic of the Philippines on December 8, 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army on February 24, 1986. SFC Villanueva arrived in Schweinfurt in September 2000, and was assigned to Charlie Company, 9th Engineer Battalion. While assigned to the Dawgs of War, SFC Villanueva initially served as a squad leader, training and leading his squad through the Kosovo deployment. In February 2004, SFC Villanueva deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Platoon Sergeant for 2nd Platoon. On September 27th, 2004, SFC Villanueva was killed by enemy fire during operations in Iraq. SFC Villanueva was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart (1 OLC). His other awards include the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal (1 Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 Stars), Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3) , NATO Medal (1 Star), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait).
