The team was founded in 1926. Before playing as the Red Wings, they were known as the Detroit Cougars (1926-1930) and the Detroit Falcons (1930-1932). Our Home ice is at the Joe Louis Arena. We have had many great seasons and our most memorable ones were with our former Head Coach Scotty Bowman. Our team captain Steve Yzerman has decided to hang up his skates as of July 3, 2006. He joined this team in 1983 and has been our captain since 86. It's sad to see him go fore he has been our captain for so long and has played with no other team than us his whole career. We wish the best to Steve and hope that this Red Wings team will take home many more cups. We won the Stanley Cup in 1936, 1937, 1943, 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1997, 1998, and 2002.
