TOMEKA
THE GODDAUGHTER FROM THE MUDDY WATERS
Like a jewel hand picked from the chocolate swamps of the Dirty South, hails the newly christened Goddaughter from the Muddy Waters...Tomeka. Conceived in the dark and mysterious city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Tomeka's birth mother served as her epitome of inspiration. As a single parent her mother struggled to raise her family in poverty. Serving as a militant and local civil rights activist, she taught her how to be an independent and assertive young woman. Tomeka channeled this energy through writing, and was enveloped in the world of poetry and drama by writing and performing oratories as a child. However, her mother's life was abruptly cut short when she died from a sudden brain aneurysm. This motivated Tomeka to use her inner strength to seek her destination.
Tomeka began to combine her writing skills with the rhythms of hip-hop and began featuring in music videos, albums, voice-overs and movies. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and began a credible music career with Evander Holyfield's E-South Record's heavyweight artist G-Dinero a.k.a G-Money. Her voice was finally heard across the airwaves and speakers when G-Dinero introduced her to the game on his hit single Tilt Ya Hat which also features Pastor Troy on the album Ghetto Drama Volume II, I'm Still Breathin'. Culminating from this, she will feature on C-Murder and The Eastside Boyz 2008 album releases. She will also voice the self-portrayed cartoon animated hood super hero Injustice Woman, which is soon to release.
The Goddaughter is spitting fire in the studio working on her own album. Projecting female empowerment, Tomeka touches issues that faces today's females, all the while keeping it crunk and hood for the streets. She continues to perform in shows with high-energy performances. Tomeka also plans to empower the hip-hop community on health awareness. After losing a second family member to a cerebral aneurysm, Tomeka was inspired to form the Cynthia De Barros Thibodeaux Aneurysm Foundation.
So now, after being perfectly molded, shined, and shaped into a unique and one of a kind rapstress in the game, The Goddaughter is the leading lady amongst the down south realest. She has set a new tone, she is filling her own shoes with a demeanor so exquisite she cannot be copied or reproduced. She is the Dirty South's finest. She is Tomeka...The Bad Mamma Jamma from Louisiana and will forever reign as The Goddaughter From the Muddy Waters.
