About Me

I make music with four other guys &...up until recently one attractive, Korean, keyboard-playing girl (as you can tell...I am still a little cut-up about that.) When we're together (& sometimes when we're apart too) we are known as "New Loud Rockets" (Take note Jimi B.) Do not make the unfortunate mistake of inserting a "The" before that rather sublime title - we may be indie, but we still have a small shred of dignity left. We're a highly stylized outfit & when I figure out how to get a link up in here I implore you to take a listen.

I like music...but I like teeth too...with the kind of fondness that a bulldog has for its breakfast. I really do. I'm passionate about them...hence I'm studying Dentistry. My heart has another yearning...the '80s. Like the '80s of American pop culture & so on. Not Reagan though...or maybe him too, but definitely not VCR - Beta Max is way cooler.
I am largely proficient in The Game of Squash. Yes, the one where two highly agile individuals; clad in thigh-high white gym shorts & matching polo-neck T's, Adidas (non-marking, of course) & pulled-up white socks (with those little red & blue parallel stripes) exhibit their physical prowess in an arena of glass, brick & laminated wooden floors. Not to mention a tressle-table laden with a jug of the liquid refreshment that any credible squash player chooses, "Game". Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

My Interests

Long walks on the beach...a good book...a sincere BJ? Seriously...good cinema, cool tunes, cleaning stuff, kung fu & particularly the animal styles, wing chuan & qi kung, sterilizing stuff, Chinese culture - past & present, mythological creatures, insects, Christian Bale & Johnny Depp (but girls before them), fashion & clothes & stuff...& I guess art too (but I'm not learned when it comes to it)???

I'd like to meet:

Jahanshir Khan - so that I can finally see where him & I stand on the courts.

A genie of moderate ability & Stanley Clark, circa 1978, so that I can first understand 'what it is' (said with funk 'n soul - like Undercover Brother) & then be endowed with the "at-oneness" of the bottom-end...& the top-end of the "bottom-end" for that matter (that rhymed & probably made little sense.)

Bruce Lee, circa 1971, so that he could bestow some of the knowledge of Jeet-Kune Do upon me & I could find out if he was high on poppy-seed when he said "It is like a finger...pointing to the moon...Wait! Don't look at the finger or the moon, but at all the heavenly glory in between."

Music:

The Strokes, The Rapture, The Bravery, Shout Out Louds, The Killers, Men Women & Children, The Libertines (Gary Powell you're not alone - there is another black dude in indie-rock & he is our drummer; Sifiso "Mazi" Mazibuko), The Smiths, Bloc Party, Interpol...Joy Division too (prefer Paul Banks though), Kings Of Leon (my brother & I play in a band - with some other guys - & our Dad's name is Leon...he isn't a minister though?), The Wild Eyes, Franz Ferdinand (camp is cool), The Kooks (yes Jadan, them too), The Dirty Skirts, VU, Television (thank you Tom Verlaine - for indie-f@#kin'-rock of course!)

Movies:

American Psycho, Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas, Fight Club, A Clockwork Orange, Gangster Number 1, Gattaca, 8mm, The Rules Of Attraction, Donnie Darko (sigh - ah...this too?), The Royal Tenenbaums (awesome attempted-suicide scene, The Baumer - a beard I aspire to grow), Wicker Park (yes, I know - queer)

Television:

...is over-rated. Er...um...kidding. Mostly I just watch MTV for the five or maybe six minutes that I have free in a week day (that's when I remember to watch TV, naturally.) Hyperthetically, in an ideal world of vices & indulgences I'd watch South Park (which WAS all the rage with the kids back in Grade 6), NIP/TUCK, Scrubs, That '70s Show (for Fez...& Donna's mom :)), Wonder Showzen - cause it scares me...oh, & The OC is pretty gay :P

Books:

Anything by Brett Easton-Ellis - the characters are real shallow, twisted cats & the '80s are alright...American Psycho, Rules Of Attraction & the one with Robert Downey Jr. in the film adaptation, Less Than Zero. Hunter S. Thompson...probably cause of his character in Fear & Loathing...
