confronting the world with a composite of de rigueur dapper cool/angsty indifference/clinical depression/awkward bookish-ness.as you may have guessed, within the superciliousness of self, is a call of desperation. half drenched to bits in blithe ignorance and in quarters, two each, is a soul shrouded amongst pretense and posturing.and thus, I am a general misanthrope in many ways. 1) I'd rather no friends than many friends. 2) I'd rather be by myself watching videos than to be out with people. 3) I'm neither an ace friend nor somebody whom you can depend on for a listening ear. 4) I don't do conversations. 5) If all misanthropes were ranked, I'd be a General.haha. well, actually not really... =)

a whole damn lot really. avant-garde free jazz improvisation work. weird noises. nurse with wound, current 93, david tibet, throbbing gristle, death in june, john zorn and his tzadik labelmates

Movies:

film noir. stuff by melville, truffaut, godard, renoir, kiarostami, fassbinder, lang, lynch, herzog, lean, ozu, eisenstein, mizoguchi, suzuki, antonioni, fellini, lumet, sirk, dreyer, kurosawa, nichols, hawks, wong kar wai, von trier and the early scorsese stuff. orson welles' citizen kane. ingmar bergman's the seventh seal. an insatiable appetite for hitchcock. the 39 steps, dial m for murder, rear window, vertigo, shadow of a doubt, north by northwest. takashi miike and chanwook park's vengeance flicks. smell of camphor fragrance of jasmine, sling blade, wag the dog, the coen bros' fargo, blood simple, tarantino's reservoir dogs, pulp fiction, jackie brown, and kill bill series. stuff with steve buscemi. sam mendes' american beauty, adaptation, being john malkovich, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, arthouse chick-flicks which bare skin. heh heh. + spaghetti westerns, the sergio leone ones, especially with clint eastwood. I loved them all...oh yes, and the token eric khoo.

Television:

"tv is a mere mode of transmission and not expressionism" - a bastardized jean-luc godard quote. actually I liked the west wing and parts of freaks and geeks pretty much... pity these shows have gotten cut.

Books:

a huge haruki murakami fan. loved sputnik sweetheart, norwegian wood, south of the border, west of the sun, after the quake and birthday stories. kafka on the shore and dance, dance, dance are lying on my table, yellowing with age and waiting to be read.
