About Me

Soapkills was born when Zeid Hamdan and Yasmine Hamdan met each other (not relatives) and took this name in October 1997. A cult group in Lebanon, Soapkills deriving from the new electro scene currently blossoming in the Middle East. The group performs sensual music that draws much of its inspiration from Arab song, on with it is sometimes molled. The band appears on few compilations and they now record their first album, released on next february. their features? yasmine hamdan's sensuous voice flirting with a minimalist electro and zeid hamdan's delicate machine tweakings.To add Soapkills Banners to your page copy the text (from the text boxes) into your profile page!

Band Members: Yasmine Hamdan: Born in Beirut. She spent her childhood abroad escaping Middle Easts wars from Lebanon, Gulf countries to Greece. She returned back to her native city at the end of Lebanese civil war. Formation: Licenced in Psychology, she took courses in classical arabic singing in the lebanese conservatory. Her experience in artistic field was characterised of self taught. Learned guitar, oud, theatre and dancing.

Zeid Hamdan: Born in Beirut in 1976. He spent his adolescence in Paris. He began his artistic trip on acting in teather and cinema. He continued after returning back to Beirut, at the mean time he played guitar and founded several bands.
Influences: Soapkills originated from the new electro scene that's currently emerging in the middle-east. the lebanese band inoculates sensual and melancolic music. bread on various musical moods, such as chet baker, aphex twin and stars from the arab world - mohammad abdelwahab, asmahan - the band composes original sounds while getting strong inspiration from the classical arabic repertoire. all of which ruthlessly embedded with electronic arrangements.
