About Me

The story of WINGDOM started back in 1998 when ex-Sonata Arctica MIKKO HARKIN (keyboards) and JUKKA RUOTSALAINEN (guitar) started to work on some fresh and inspiring song ideas. They were soon joined by SAMI ASP (vocals), MARKUS NIEMISPELTO (drums) and ex-Rhapsody bass player ALESSANDRO LOTTA.
The sound of WINGDOM is very melodic with progressive elements and a sharp metallic edge. The catchy choruses and strong melodies will amaze fans of many different music genres. We all have been wandering around the different areas of the music world and its obvious that the songs are inspired by our numerous experiences says Mikko. Both Alex and Mikko have a strong background from the days of Rhapsody and Sonata Arctica. Singer Sami Asp is known for his co-operation with Derek Sherinian (ex- Dream Theater) and Virgil Donati (ex- Steve Vai drummer).
During the recording process of the album WINGDOM catched the attention of Timo Kotipelto of STRATOVARIUS fame. He enjoyed the fresh and original appearance of the music and offered to release the album Reality through his own label High and Loud. This was the first band that really impressed me so much that I wanted to sign it to my label, says Timo. We are really happy to work with Timo. He's a good friend and that makes our cooperation very comfortable. The band lineup changed during the fall 2005 when Alessandro Lotta was replaced by Jarno Raitio. During the fall 2006 Mikko decided to leave the band.Wingdom is currently working on the 2nd album - stay tuned!!!!
