Lord Lovat is a stand alone sonic artist. Originally a member of the garage-indie-guitar group called 'Jules et Jim'. By 1996 turntables, mixing desk, and loads of tapes ,vynils and Cds surround his envronment. Certainly it came the moment where he was confident to compose himself. 'It was as if the music I was making became acceptable to myself. I was confident I could at least release some of my music and Against demons EP which was produced in 1998 was that first which I call 'intention manifested'.'Still unsigned by 1999 Lord Lovat releases 'Marcel Duchamp is Alive'(yellow edition). Marcel Duchamp is Alive is a set of four colours (Yellow, green, blue & white), 3 tracks cd, box set. Lord Lovat had also @ this time established InD! Records, an independent label responsible to release his records.'To stand alone and to do it by myself was and has been the only way to actually still be involved with the marvellous thing which is music composition, without been involved with the major operational forces.'Well, its like choosen between nuclear energy or alternative sources, really.' InD! Records had to be set up and running in a low budget scheme otherwise the records wouldn't be out.' They consequently was out in a limited edition which is at moment out of catalogue. We are working towards InD Records to become its NET Label - InD! Digital. The electronic set up, the poetry of no spoken words, the rhytmic exploration, the sound textures, are all part of the sonic spectrum of Lord Lovat music.'To be signed by my own label, and have to manage its financial output was as still is a challenge, something new, financial management' & 'artistic performance' are in my view place in two opposite sides. I believe a bridge or some sort of connection has to be made, and thats the direction of jg co & communications which is the 'mother of it all' I mean InD! Records-InD! Digital, WisEyesDesigns, SonicScienceStudios, OpticalPerspectiveArchitecture, Little Pixel Design-Infrastructure & Solutions, LyriosLyricsPublishing and even Lord Lovat himself and myself as a Director and artist of it all.'I see it like a massive symphony where each activity of our multidisciplinary practice would be an instrument, if I got it in harmony it became a beautiful song'. The experience of the past help me to learn to see things in a different way in which usually didn't get much attention.By the end it has all brought me a sense of stilness away from the glamour of the industry' In the Autum of 2001 ReTropicAlien Album was released. Re-making whats tropicalia has left undone, with an alien, a new different view to the actual scene....11 Eleven Tour is that attempt, to pilot studies , to desgn an international tour circuit for live performance in Brazil, with a contemporary approach and as an alternative to Brazil and the international live performances spaces.'It was a very important moment of my music when we release ReTropicAlien because the basic conditions of survive was out of hands. The affordability of a more resourceable studio was unconceivable and the opportunity to work with a music engineer in which was expected to happens didn't so I end up doing it myself within the resources available.Just after Graduation, between the Retropicalien release in 2001 Lord Lovat produced and release by November/2005, Incesticide Sessions, A Non-Stop 60 minutes compilation of selected mix with the presence of his most favourites studio producers, which are also about to be re-release by InD! Digital soon.'Incesticide Sessions is basically a compilation which starts 15 years ago when there wasn't even MP3 files'. All these experiences is a journey which started in his teen more precisely 16.'I was never satisfied with anything as a teen boy, suddenly I realize that the only thing to keep me alive was to actually get involved to know about everything I could possibly learn'. That search to know never had a sense of.... power. I mention it because knowlodge for some are power while my search to know was and has been towards a more supreme sense of life and its own existence.'I never like the idea of mental misery so the only option was to explore the limits of my own existence'. Lord Lovat album 'Elizabeth' has been release in the winter, more precisely February 2006, followed in Sept 2007 by the release of Sunflowers Tales which had an interview edited by David C a guest journalist of the NetZine Cyclic 'Memoirs' below:SunFlowers Tales Album Interview: by David C.DC: Hi Lord, new sonic endeavours...? Lord Lovat: Definetely, its already part of myself. DC: Tell us about it? Lord Lovat: Well, SunFlowers Tales is really about a narrative, a sonic narrative. Usually I composed inspired by a theme which usually cames from the album title. It happens specially with Elizabeth. SunFlowers Tales was more about compositions putting together to form a narrative. DC: Any specific influences? Lord Lovat: Well, my influences does not necessarily means only music. A book, a film, an encounter, a drawing.... I mean anything which touch me deeply whatever it is became part of what I do. DC: Interesting. You mean any non-musical happening would influence your final output? Lord Lovat: Thats it! Anything, would be immerse on my personal been. It is nice to tell you but in reality it is a difficult thing because I tend to be reclusive. DC: Thats why there are not Lovat gigs or live performances? Lord Lovat: Laughs...Not necessarily. Live performances involve much more people and financially it is much more expensive. I can't afford live performances at moment, I am still broke.... DC: You have actually perform live not many times since you became a stand alone act, is it the studio ambiente more secure? Lord Lovat: Not really, I mean in the studio I feel a kind of intimacy which rarely you find when performing live. In the studio you can actually rewind, listen to it back and do it all over again if it doesn't satisfy. Live is more about something you have to do because it has been planned, It also involve more people which we have a kind of responsability towards them. DC: So when theres gonna be Lord Lovat Sessions? Lord Lovat: I am sorry not very soon.SunFlowers Tales is going to be released by Ind!Digital on 28/09/2007.We (jg co. & communications) are now working towards its first Lovat Tour in years called 11 Eleven 1998 - 2009. It is actually about our Eleven Years of music production, Eleven selected trks compiled from its Lovat previous releases since 1998 in a single Special Edition Recycled Package designed by WisEyesDesigns house design guest, to be release somewhere in 2009 following a long tour starting throughout Brasil, aproximately 88 cities, 88 places. We expect with the tour to bring an awareness of the necessity to have an international circuit to benefit local artists, as international artists and create a bridge between artists of diverse cultures. Our forecast activities has an European, USA, Canada & Japan tour to became a Live Album..... well I think I have things to do, don't you? I hope to meet you somewhere in between...Lord LovatOn behalf of the Warriors of the Rainbow,
