... so much to do, so little time ...

About Me

Music is an integral part of my everyday life... it's something around what my thoughts usually loom large. If I'm not playing any instrument or singing, I'm very likely listening to some record and quite possibly writing a review for it. This, however, hasn't always been the case. It wasn't until I turned twelve when I really started listening to music. Three years later I got my first guitar, and I found myself practicing vigorously. I'm wholly self-taught musician, if one excludes the music classes I had in school. Besides, I started to compose songs as well as train both my improvisation and production skills right away... just on a side note, I regard life as an ongoing learning process: not a single day passes by without something new to learn, yet one's knowledge always stays somewhat limited. One can never truly master anything, still it would be ignorant not to even try.
I'm determined in my doings yet I enjoy letting things work themselves out in their own time as well. I'm also discretionarily extroverted meaning that I am sociable but I take some time of my own along with personal space when I crave for it. For the most part, my spare time goes to hobbies, keeping in touch with my friends and completing unfinished tasks - yes, I'm fairly known for scraping up more work than I possibly can handle. Nonetheless, in due course I end up pulling everything off. I don't need any inebriants to enjoy myself, and I feel sorry for those who do (and who can't live without them). I've been called a perfectionist, but I see myself as a realist who knows perfection can never be attained...
After high school I started working as a music journalist and I enrolled in University to study marketing. A year later, I served in the military which was all in all a fairly educational period in my life that gladly is over now. For what it's worth, it did teach me to value freedom more and not to take it for granted. It also taught me to get along with all kinds of people, and not to judge a book by its cover. Since then my life has gone pretty much along the lines of my general interests listed on the left.

Music:

Pretty much anything of creative, eloquent, and overall spectacular nature. If there's no feeling in music, then I'm probably not that interested in it - I think that music should always be emotionate - after all it's an instrument for conveying emotions and feelings. Personally I hate genres and categorization, as well as naming one's favourite groups (there are just too many). Thus I'll confine myself to saying: I literally listen to everything - some I enjoy more than others, and some I may even detest though I appreciate every musician for their effort.

Movies:

As with music, I'm open-minded about movies too... I can't really name favourites here, but I enjoy watching comedies, some adventure and action films, as well as psychological thrillers, drama and horror flicks with a good plot. I also pay attention to soundtracks, so preferably the movie I watch has an outstanding score.

Books:

As long as the book is well-written and intriguing, it's to my liking. Among others I read about music production (namely mixing & mastering), music theory and technique, marketing, psychology, philosophy (e.g. Voltaire), poetry (e.g. Edgar Allan Poe), science fiction (e.g. Terry Pratchett, Kurt Vonnegut, Isaac Asimov), drama, thriller, fantasy (JRR Tolkien), along with countless of tutorials in various fields.

Heroes:

I value all people who have dreams, and have guts to pursue them. Life is what you make of it, so keep the faith!
