About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorSlacks was created as a side-project for me [Mick] and Randy’s noisecore/metal band, SUPERHIGHWAY CARFIRE, in the mid 90s.
Slacks! , our first CD, was released by Translation Loss/Infernal Racket Records in 2003 to, what actually seemed like, critical acclaim. It was recorded by Randy and I at Super 8 Studios.
Our original drummer, Dan Ballinger, left the band and was replaced by Mike Prout, of the band QUIPS. Our old friend/collaborator, Christian, signed on as our full-time singer.
In the fall of 2005 we released our second CD, Terrestrial on Translation Loss Records. It was also self recorded at Super 8 Studios.
As of December ’06 our bassist, Ed Ballinger, left the band to concentrate on his video work. See what he’s up to at www.punkmonkeypictures.com. Grant Hughes, also from QUIPS, has since replaced him.
We’re currently finishing up our third CD, it should be released sometime in 2008 on Forgotten Empire Records. Please buy it.
Here’s what some folks had to say about us:
If you like your math-rock a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll, then kick back and slack with these Slacks. Have a beer, and then have another. There’s plenty to go around.
--Joseph Kyle / mundanesounds.com
Feeling like the rock that mountain men would make in a one-room cabin 80 miles deep into the wilderness. The music is honest and uplifting and begging at the door for you to listen.
--Pete Soyer / Modern Fix
Slacks make classic rock now. "Terrestrial" is as well played a guitar rock record as any Cream album.
--Thomas D. Williams / DigitalMetal.com
If there’s one problem with this album, it’s that it is too short. Only seven songs seems like a tease. But those seven songs are wicked good, especially if you are a fan of bands like Uncle Tupelo, Flying Burrito Brothers, and Drag The River.
--Gary Schwind / RocknWorld.com
Definitely a great CD. Very different and, dare I say, quite original. I fully recommend this to anyone who enjoys good music and is in the market for something out of the ordinary.
--Aversionline.com
This is a well written, classy record. I am digging the shit out of it. Listening to it at work right now and it suppresses the homicidal urges to an almost manageable level.
--Bryan Cox, drummer for the Virginia based heavy rock band, Alabama Thunderpussy
If you get thrown into rehab, bring a copy, it’ll make the time go faster.
--Sleazegrinder.com
Great record. I haven’t heard this kind of diversity in underground music for quite a while...I hope this band gets huge.
--Vic Szalaj, drummer for the New England heavy rock band, Cable
Slacks! has garnered more spins in my home and car CD player this year than any other disc in recent memory.
