Baby Bees from Baby Bee Bay
Initially just one bee (BeeforBon) alone in an ad-hoc studio with borrowed gear.
There were some old songs, not quite right (or right time) for A Goldstar Secret.
These were followed by a new computer and some new songs. Some got cut.
Then BeeforBon chased up some special guest Bees to sweeten the hive a little:
Firstly Geoff Towner (Decoder Ring, A Goldstar Secret.....) played a bunch of bass, a little guitar, and wrote and sang some lyrics for me too. Where would i bee without the guy?
Simon Wooldridge (el Mopa) did a bee-atching solo +;
Three members of the Rebel Astronauts contributed their nectar - Bree Van Reyk (vibraphone), Emma Hoy (sweet, sweet vocals and tech help) and Matt McBeath (guitar)
So many good people, not to mention Stephen and Penny from the Cannanes uncurling their respective probosces to blow some trumpets.
And so the album came into beeing.
Zee Beep Ape.

OK! the baby bees band has formed and if i'm not mistaken, i've heard the word 'supergroup' being thrown around.......
Geoff Towner (ex-decoder ring, The Dead Tree etc) comes out of retirement to play the four fat strings. Fair enough too, since he played all over the album and wrote the words and sang the song 'Araldyte me, Aphrodite' which is on the player right now...
Joe Dews, frontman for Little Joe Leonard and the Imperials, slips behind the kit to create a rhythm section that makes no apology for arousing your primal emotions.
Simon Wooldridge (el Mopa) plays some hot licks and bewildering lead breaks that contrast strongly with my amateur plectrum work
But any band is not complete without a Travis (or a Jim), in this case Baird (or AFX) who can play anything and will probably be asked to.
We been rehearsing hard, and sure, they're all super guys, but i'm not afraid to fine 'em when they bum out the vibe, man. Lousy musician bums.....
Band sounds great, by the way! And we're working up to an album launch sometime soon....
