DREKNO

About Me

Get ready for the "TRUTH". The Truth just happens to be packaged in the 6'2'', 220lb frame of the young man known as DRE-KNO (dray-no). Although just making some national noise, Drekno is no rookie when it comes to the rap game. A member of a successful regional act called Criminal Nation, Drekno appeared on two releases which sold in excess of 200,000 units. He also appeared on his clique's (DCP) cd "The DCP Organization" which was distributed by Ichiban Records. Drekno's name is known on the underground from his home state of Washington, to the Bay Area which he called home for four years and recorded his first solo project "Playin' for Keeps" which sold around 5,000 units. After recording a solo project with TRU affiliate Milkman and making appearances on local records and various compilations, Drekno returned home and released his second solo project, "Marks on My Soul", which sold well regionally and through distribution with Tower Records. Drekno also appeared on various local projects in Washington and the "Seattle, The Darkside" compilation. Drekno then traveled to the Mecca of hip-hop, New York City for inspiration, where he recorded the mixtape"The Broadway Joe Experience" and a few other tracks that would begin to shape "The Business". "The Business" is a return to the origin of hip-hop, the music of the struggle, but maintains commercial appeal. Drekno's name is known throughout various regions of the U.S. among true hip hop people and the streets even in the projects of Harlem where some say he is the nicest MC they've heard from the West(or anywhere for that matter) in a while. Now residing in San Antonio, TX. this nomadic MC is ready for the world to get a taste of his hard hitting flow and clever wordplay. Citing influences as diverse as E-40 and Jimi Hendrix for their conversational deliveries of their lyrics, Drekno has definitely done his homework and is ready to put his own conversation to the test. Drekno says his aim is to bring some reality back to hip hop. "I dig some of the music out now, and there's artists out there getting money, but there's more to rap then what's out there right now. There's not much self expression going on in the mainstream, I'm not hating niggas for getting their paper, but it's time for a new era and everybody knows it. "";
