About Me

It's been years since I updated this properly, but I guess properly is little by little................................./.................... .........Where I'm From.....: " Born and raised in NYC I'm from honking cars and rattling windows.I'm from loud music bass, and a hum of a sewing machine. I'm from rhythmic clanging of seasonings being mashed up, and voices yelling up to windows. I'm from climbing over fences, chasing cats and secretive women. I'm from rinsing with a tin cup and hearing a whispered late night prayer accompanied by rustling paper. I'm from the mumble of a Spanish soap opera and the the desperate scream of a cat in heat. I'm from the flicker of candles and shadows passing across the faces of painted saints and I'm from ear numbing fire engine sirens, walking by a posse of grilling girls with my eyes cast downwards and listening to the sound of my heart beating through my shirt. I'm from getting lost in books with a flashlight as my accomplice after my bed time and dreadfully fascinating over my own mortality way before being old enough to bear children. I'm from Hare Krishna cymbals, Atlantic Antic concerts, the Pentecostal's clanging tamborine, the Muslim's call to prayer and the Gospel of the Baptist church attacking my senses from my sidewalk in the same week. I'm from watching for role models to copy and admire from my bedroom window." -(Natalia L. Jackson, A Little Piece of My Heaven) ....................................../..................... ..............White diamonds are my favorite stone. I have an emerging lean towards really bright colors which is def a new thing. I do not have a favorite color, just way too hard to choose. Blues have a great vibration, but so do aquas. I guess I like marine like water colors to look at. Saw a giant column with a sculpture design on it and discovered that I had some of the same favorite flowers as the founder of Tiffany & Co. Thought that was random and not that wierd since they all kind of resemble each other. :-) Poppies, magnolias, and peonies would be my favorites. We differ at Lotus, they're nice, but not lush enough for me. I really really love white peonies the best. :-) I was kind of a little bit of a book nerd until I started working too much. I was fried, now I'm just lazy... :-) Nothing deep, just a little Natalia trivia .........../.......... uber thoughtfulness on a platter. Peace. :)

My Interests

I love song lyrics: "You quiver like a candle on fire, I'm putting you out. Maybe tonight we could be the last shout. But I'm fascinated by your style, your beauty will last for a while. You're feeling instead of being, The more that I live on the inside there's nothing to give. I'm infatuated by your moves, I've got to search hard for your clues.I want to repair your desire, and call it a gift that I stole from just wanting to live. Now I see the vision through your eyes, your innocence no longer fuels surprise.Trying to outrun your fear. Running to lose, heart on your sleeve and your soul in your shoes. Take a left, a sharp left and another left. Meet me on the corner and we'll start, again. - (Badly Drawn Boy- Once around the block)

I'd like to meet:

Good people and a man who still believes in the lyrics to "Whole wide world" by Wreckless Eric and loves the nuances of "Once around the block" by Badly drawn boy. "Once around the block" could be about me and fit perfectly. Song lyrics are so amazing, all metaphor and succinct, accurate, poetry. When done properly and set to the right music it is sublime ambrosia for the ears.

Music:

Ecclectic and random is the best way to describe my taste. I love soul and R&B (new and classic), blues (mostly old), alternative rock, folk rock, pop-gospel, hip-hop,etc,etc... all these genres and more regardless of language.

Movies:

Hmmm, let me see, I like any movie with old school actors like Grace Kelly, Katherine Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Cary Grant...etc. I love romantic comedies, action, drama, and suspense thrillers too, aaand, I know all of the classic James Bond movies by heart. Classic '80's movies are great too. I just like movies. I have a new favorite movie called stranger than fiction. A little piece of genius in the current trend of some ridiculous stuff...

Television:

Mysteries, movies, documentaries and drama.

Books:

One of my favorite books in the world is a book called "Loving" by Leo Buscaglia. There is an excerpt from the book above. I was really impressed to see the excerpt available as a blog, the book is so old, although it is one of the books that should be mandatory reading as a citizen of the planet, along with "The Prophet", and this great taoist like book called "Loving fron the Soul". All of them have very little to do with romance, although their titles seem to hint in that direction. They really have a lot more to do with being a responsible citizen of the human race. Beautiful books that become big parts of your cellular make up. I'm currently walking through the Jungian psychology/ pscychoanalytical genre. Amazing stuff really, so beautiful and human. For a minute this was all I was reading. I've sprinkled it since with a couple of time period romances, and some modern comedies and other random things that may interest me. I'm usually reading about five books at a time, all of a few different genres. I pick each one up as the mood strikes me.

Heroes:

...Natalia(grandma), Mary(grandma), Abigail(mom), Ian (my step-dad), my friends, my students, any one that's ever shown any one else kindness and of course that force that makes our breathing possible.
