About Me
SINGLE, Male, Mexican American by birth and Chicano by political orientation and self-determination, 38 years old but young at heart. I like to have fun and meet new people. I love to travel, cook, BBQ, going on long drives and walks. I love desert sunsets, the Santa Barbara coast line, and rainy days.People say I'm a good person to know and even more have called me a role model. There are many more of us out there, and we did'nt even know it. So stand proud and don't be shy, because you can make changes in one's life. Whether it be listening to them, reading to them, encouraging them, or by simply saying you love them goes a long way. Let's remember, A true MAN, a true MACHO is not afraid to show feelings. A true MACHO confronts issues and makes solutions to those problems - or at least tries.I'm strong minded, ambitious, and have even a bigger corazon. I have made a positive change in my life by overcoming tremendous obstacles and challeges, succeeding in areas where I have been told I would not be able to.I'm originally from East Santa Barbara, California. Those who have known me from way back when know what I am talking about. And those who know me now - Gracias for the respect, support, and amor you have shown. I like to walk my talk and work in bettering the living conditions of our varrios and communities. God has brought me to the corazon of the Southwest town of El Paso, Texas a.k.a. El Chuco along the U.S./Mexico Border - the far West Texas Tip bordering three states and two countries to do my work. Though I'm a 1,000 miles away from my place of birth, it's still all good. I go where I'm called, maybe back home sometime soon or to a community near you. So stay tuned.Over the past 10 years I have worked in the non profit sector in different capacities. I realized my strength in this arena and now act as a development coordinator for a local non-profit organization in El Paso County where I raise federal, state, corporate, and private funding for programs that address domestic violence, fatherhood responsibility, youth leadership development, economic self-sufficiency, affordable housing and gang prevention. I also consult and freelance, so if any people or non profits out there may be in need of my assistance - I will be more than glad to help as well as submit my vital, track record of grants secured, and writing samples.I have also ventured out on a new endevour to where I provide Notary Public Services and Income Tax Preparation out of my office as well. I do this more as a community service at the lowest prices possible - sliding scale based on earned income. I do it out more from the corazon. As you may see, I am pretty busy most of the time but always make time for myself, furthering my education, and for those I love, and the new peoples I meet. Though I can get busy, one of my short-term goals is to enter graduate school, either focus my studies in sociology, cultural anthropology, or History. I am set in teaching Chicano History at the High school and College levels one day. I truley believe in knowing our past history, our struggles, and our intellectual and socioeconomical contributions to this society will instill pride in us all and give us that passion to succeed as our ancestors have over the last 5, 000 or so years.

For fun I enjoy going to cultural events, listening to mariachis, watching ballet folklorico, art exhibits, and events focusing on Chicano/Mexican, Amerindian cultures, Chicano, Native American, and African American Civil Rights Movements. Another part of our history I'm facinated with are the 1940's, the Pachuco, Pachuco Boogie Music, and the Zoot Suit Roits. I've camped in the yucatan peninsula and have climed the pyramids of the moon and the sun in teotihuacan. I love to write and read poetry and paint.I am an advocate for social, human, and economic justice issues and stand up and fight for what I believe in and let my opinion be heard to those who listen and also to those who don't want to listen. I am passionate in everything I do and determined to succeed in changing public policies that don't work for our border communities.
