About Me

I come from a large Mexican family. I've been dancing Mexican folklorico for CSUN's one and only folklorico group, Ballet Folklorico Aztlan de CSUN, for almost 12 yrs. now. I have many good friends. I enjoy learning from people, even if I have a different view from their's because there is just way too much out there that I don't know. I love traveling. As a future archaeologist I realize that there are many beautiful things/places out there and it makes me sad to know that I don't have all the time in the world to go out and see them. My most meaningful and favorite tradition is El Dia de Los Muertos.

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6 !

My Interests

Archaeology, history, art, politics, dancing in general but especially Mexican folklorico, sports, animals, music, and traveling. These two beautiful paintings were created by my mentor and uncle, Manuel Unzueta, Chicano artist.

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent and open minded people. Even better when they have the same interests I do. People that are outspoken and are about taking action. I like people that find pride in their culture and traditions, whatever they may be. I am interested in people that care about nature. I like people with a sense of humor and I love people that enjoy different genre's of music as I do.If they were still alive, I would love to meet John Lennon and Frida Kahlo. Pet Shop Boys Duke The Kinks Despina Lupe Fiasco feat. Matthew Santos

Music:

THE BEATLES!!!! U2!!!!!! I love all sorts of music, anything I can dance my little heart to, except country. My favorite music to dance to is House music and 80's alternative and Rock(Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Talk Talk, Pet Shop Boys, Thompson Twins, The Cure, The Clash, Madonna,Flock of Seaguls, Psychadelic Furs, Joy Division, etc.). I love Spanish music too, Rock en Espanol, Merengue, Salsa, Cumbias, Rancheras, and traditional folklorico music since I am a Mexican folklorico dancer, and besides the Beatles I like other Classic Rock groups such as Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, David Bowie, etc.)and lastly Indie Rock: Interpol, She Wants Revenge, Elefant, Moving Units, The Killers, The Presets, The Rapture, etc.

Movies:

My favorite for 2007 "Across the Universe." I enjoy all types of movies, although the majority of the movies I see are usually sci fi or anything that has great special effects, such as Lord of the Rings, 300, The Matrix, Sin City, Star Wars, King Kong, etc. I enjoy some action movies, The Mummy, Man Under Fire, Speed (Keanu Reeves is yummy). I really enjoy suspense but not scary movies. (i.e. Silence of the Lambs) I like drama and international films. Some of my favorites from various categories: Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects (Bernicio del Toro, sexy), Amores Perros, Chocolat, Mi Familia, Like Water for Chocolate, Motorcylce Diaries, God Father series, Good Fellas, Casino, Dead Man Walking, I Am Sam, Mystique River, Ocean's Eleven, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, I think you get the idea. Very little comedy, Mrs. Doubtfire and Nacho Libre.

Television:

Discovery Channel, History Channel, Archaeology Channel, Animal Planet, Nip Tuck, Rescue Me, National Geographic Channel.

Books:

When I do leisure reading, I read things of various topics. Spiritual books, historical books, for example. Novels, poetry books, a lot of books written by Chicanas/os. I mostly read articles in journals or magazines, such as in the Archaeology magazine, National Geographic, and Time Magazine. Some biographies, such as the life of Ernesto Che Guevara or Frida Kahlo. Some trippy stuff like books on Secret Societies. A little bit on Native Americans, Shamans, Curanderismo, etc. But mostly I read my school books, all having to do with culture, anthropology, archaeology, paleontology and theory of anthropology. Anything having to do with the Aztecs, Maya, Olmecs, Zapotecs, Inca, etc. I just read the one below for my thesis on La Blanca, Guatemala figurines.

Heroes:

My mother for everything she is, my pops for his musical inspiration, those who have died for social justice and equality, those who fight for the rights of Indigenous people of the world, Indigenous people of the world that have fought/struggled to maintain their traditions and cultures despite all that they have experienced, campesinos, and true student activists. Frida Kahlo, John Lennon and my grandparents.
