Researching southeastern North Carolina unique history.
~~My personal Web site
I have conducted numeruous historical research project that deal with the history and heritage of southeastern North Carolina, USA.
I find the data that I come across, mostly from non-academic sources, are not well known within the general public.
I enjoy talking to and taking notes on comments made by elders of communities that I visit. They have so much history / heritage within them and can not be found within modern history books or in your local library.
I like most music with the exception of hearing music from a vehicle four lanes across from me that contain indecent lyrics, where pre-teens can hear.
One of my favorite movies is the
"DI."
Unless you have a US Marine Corps connection within your family you most likely have not heard of this movie.
Two other movies that come to mind are
"Eddie and the Crusers I & II."
I guess it is a flash back to the early sixties thing that makes these movies interesting.
Non-fiction, historical in nature. Any really old books (pre-twentieth century). Seems many of these books tell a different view of our history.
Our servicemen and -Women.
My two sons are both serving. My oldest, John, is a US Marine (like his mom and dad). My youngest son, Pat, is in the US Army.
A special mention for
US Marine Corps'
W.O.5 Roger Makolandra
and
Ssgt. Anthony Goodwin.
Rest in Peace, my friends...Semper Fi.
