Okay, where to start? I was born in Nashville, Tennessee on July 10, 1977. I grew up in a broken home, because my daddy was a "lifer" in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country honorably for 27 years, and my mom worked for a large automotive company as a supervisor.I grew up with my other siblings around only part of the time. I have four brothers and three sisters, four of which have also served in the United States Marine Corps. My family life was pretty much what most folks would call "okay" or even slightly "normal." As I grew up, I was an honor student and was a four sport athlete in High School, receiving letters in Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Track & Field. I was offered many scholarships to Division 1 schools to play basketball and baseball; but, I chose to turn those down and join in on the fun of being a Marine.After joining the Marine Corps in 1996, I was originally stationed in Pensacola, Florida for 2 years and then decided to sign up for the USMC Recon BTLN. After all my hard work & training, I had the honor of becoming one of the even more proud Marines by being the BTLN. Leader of the CTU team that was sent to Afghanistan in 2002, which was comprised of Rangers, Seals, and Recon members. In October of 2003, I was shot twice and was honorably discharged along with my Two Purple Hearts and numerous other comendations. So after 7+ years in the Corps, I'll always be a Marine, because, you know there is no such thing as being an "Ex-Marine," because "Once A Marine...ALWAYS a Marine!" As my D.I. in Basic used to tell me all the time, "Semper Fi isn't just a motto, it's a way of life." For those of you who do not know what "Semper Fidelis" means, it was taken from the Latin language and it means "Always Faithful."After coming home, I began writing books and memoirs of my life and turning them into fictional creations, which netted me a contract with Algonquin Books, and while getting a degree in Journalism from Memphis, I wrote three books that were published and circulated throughout the United States, Canada, and several other countries. Since then, I have written two more published books, the latest being released in October of 2006.I have a seven year old daughter, Nautica, who lives with me and is my life. She is very brilliant and beautiful, and reminds me of her mother more and more each day. The story of me and her mother is a very sensitive and delicate subject; so for those who know what happened, I thank you for your support through it...and for those who do not know, I would rather not put it on the front of my MySpace page.I recently taught a Creative Writing class two days a week at MTSU, and I am currently working on a sixth book, and opening a bar here in Hendersonville, named "Just One More." I also have just started my own Independent Publishing company-"Blake Publishing©2006-2007"-I know, real creative, huh? LOL!!!I am an easy going guy, with a big heart, and a mean streak as long as a country mile when you get me riled up! I have a few different nicknames, and they are as follows: "The Punisher," "Crookz," and "The Tennessee Bad Boy." I didn't get the nicknames because I needed a nickname or because I needed to coin some sort of "catchphrase" or nickname, there is a reason behind them all. If you'd like to know, I'll gladly tell you.I am a proud man, Marine, Tennesseean, and Father. It was my honor to serve my country and it is still my honor to support those who continue to do so. I'm just a good ol' boy, who is country fried, who's number 1 love is his daughter and number 2 is writing. There's no dollar sign on my friendship, so please don't try and impress me with material things; because, those things can be replaced...a friendship cannot!I enjoy sports, including Nascar and Wrestling. I love wrestling, because I grew up loving it, and I will always love the things those guys do to entertain us all! God Bless all those wrestlers who have passed, including the late, great Eddie Guerrero! The same goes for those drivers in Nascar who entertain us with their great driving skills every week. R.I.P. In a crowd you're bound to spot him, He's standing so very tall Not too much impresses him; He's seen and done it all. His hair is short, his eyes are sharp, But his smile's a little blue. It's the only indication Of the hell that he's gone through. He belongs to a sacred brotherhood, Always Faithful 'til the end. He has walked right into battle And walked back out again. Many people think he's foolish For having no regrets About having lived through many times Others would forget. He's the first to go and last to know, But never questions why, On whether it is right or wrong, But only do or die. He walks a path most won't take And has lost much along the way, But he thinks a lot of freedom, It's a small price to pay. Yes, he has chosen to live a life Off the beaten track, Knowing well each time he's called, He might not make it back. So, next time you see a Devil Dog Standing proud and true, Be grateful for all he's given; He's given it for you. Don't go up and ask him What's it's like to be in war; Just thank God that it's your country He's always fighting for.
